Playing Hooky!

Daytripping, My Precious Darlings

We took a day off school–and writing–to play in the snow one last time. We don’t have snow here anymore, but they have snow here–where they make snow–about an hour and a half away. Living near ski resorts is a new thing for us. We still think snow is exciting. Mostly. When our pipes aren’t freezing.

:shimmy: Snowtubing with teenagers is….. Extreme snowtubing, LOL. Not content with simply sledding down on their tube, they were taking advantage of the thin crowds, virtually no lines, to go way back and take running leaps onto their tubes at the top of the hill. And somehow they convinced me to do this, too. Which might explain why I am so sore… It was really fun, though!!

This one had to try snowboarding, too. Mere tubing was not exciting enough after a couple of hours.

After, he said, “But it looks easy on TV…..”

Then we went out to eat and drove home. Fun day! We might do it again next year….. I might be recovered by then…..

Back to regular life. I’m trying to finish a proposal this week, and it’s supposed to be in the 60s here soon!!! I already planted some herbs inside to get ready for spring…. I’m going to start some tomatoes and flowers next. I’m so glad there’s no REAL snow here!!!!! What about you? Planting any seeds inside yet?

OOH! That looks so fun! Now, go use that bottle of bath salts that you’ve been storing and enjoy a long soak. ;)

I am SO ready for spring. We can’t plant annuals or veggies outside until Memorial Day! ACK! But… I do have my tomatoes started. Considering it’s below zero outside right now:cold:, I may be a little early…

The snow here is FINALLY beginning to melt :bananadance: I figured we’d be digging out of it till July. Already planning my seeds and am tempted to start the peppers indoors next weekend. Went to the garden centre last month and bought a bunch of new seeds too! Can’t wait to play in the dirt againt :shimmy:

You certainly couldn’t get me to do this anymore. I’m suffering from a bad back as it is–probably from trying to lift one of my drawers while trying to put it back in place after I moved. I’m not surprised now that they took each drawer out to move the cabinets.

My brother-in-law totalled their van while they were on their way from the frozen wilds of Ontario for their annual holiday in–oh, where are the famous golf resorts along the coast, is it the Carolinas somewhere? They were driving at night and suddenly a deer appeared in the headlights. They could easily have been killed like the deer. But if I remember correctly, none of them had a scratch–family of 6. They had their guardian angel and so did you.

I’ve planted peas, radishes, lettuce, and carrots outside. I don’t bother with starting anything inside since they die as soon as I plant them outside - no matter how many days I spend hardening them off.
