In my continuing quest for the Pulitzer Prize in investigative journalism, I’ve been rambling around country roads again, climbing over banks and tiptoeing behind empty old houses, unearthing the hidden scandals and secret stories of outhouses…..where in this episode I discover…..

….that love means…..

….never having to go alone.
"It was a cold wintry day when I brought my children to live in rural West Virginia. The farmhouse was one hundred years old, there was already snow on the ground, and the heat was sparse-—as was the insulation. The floors weren’t even, either. My then-twelve-year-old son walked in the door and said, “You’ve brought us to this slanted little house to die." Keep reading our story....

"Punxsatawney Phil's befuddled; rain and snow are mixed and muddled. With your valentine be cuddled, by a fireplace happily huddled. Rain on frozen ponds is puddled, ice-boats scuttled."

BTW, you call that winter? Gees…There’s not a flake of snow around! I’m so envious. We must have had *another* 5 to 6 inches yesterday, plus it’s -20C with the windchill this morning. (No way I’d be sitting my butt down on an outhouse seat today!)
Stay warm everyone!

I love your blog. Having been born in the country (Campbell, Missouri – population 1883) but raised in the suburbs of Chicago, I can relate, but…who knew it got so cold in West Virginia? Just the thought of going to the outhouse when it’s below freezing makes me squirm.

I found your blog a few days ago. I love it!! I also love your sense of humor and your sense of adventure!! I love old outhouses. We always had two seaters when I was young. The first one I remember had one taller seat and a little short seat, I suppose for the kids who went pee pee with mommy!!
I’m still catching up on everything on your site so I’ll be back.
Hope
