   I read that book! I also read it to my niece when she was young. I think you need to sit Spartacus down and have a nice long chat about babies, which he was himself not long ago. Have we figured out if he’s a he yet? Anyway, I’d check under those feathers to make sure he’s not carrying a frying pan. Breakfast anyone? xxoo

   Suzanne, I love all your chickens but that one just cracks me up every time you post his little face!

   Wanted you (and everyone else) to know that I made your pizza dough for dinner last night and it is the BEST! AND, it was so easy and quick. While the dough was rising I had time to rummage through the fridge and decide and prepare the toppings that I wanted to use. By the time I did that, the dough had risen and I was ready to assemble the pizzas and throw them in the oven. Quicker than delivery and waaaaaaaaaay better! Thanks so much for the recipe! My dh loved it, my kids loved it and so did I!

   I love that book! Congrats on your 1st eggs. I have a hen that will try to hatch anything. I have a few other hens
   who are just to busy with their yard careers to worry about
   having children so I give their eggs to the nanny. She is a good mamma. I wonder if the little eggs would work???!!!
   Boy wouldn’t the nanny be proud to see how well those babies could fly.

    We have a nest like that in one of my horseback riding helmets in our horsey trailer…..I have seen the Mamma bird…it looks like a small chickadee or something. Maybe word got out that we like baby chicks :thumbsup:

    so glad to be back…I have been away at my daughter’s Pinto World Show and missed reading your post! Oklahoma is now getting your rain! Just goes to show you that chicken house of yours was meant to have eggs in it! yea!!! so love 0012 secret agent chicken (no I’m not bitter my name wasn’t chosen…uh huh…not one bit….hahah)

    ps…my daughter is now a World Champion….sorry…proud mamma has to tell every one..poor people in the grocery store…… !

    LOL on what will happen when they run across that particular chicken. It’s like a cross between “Are You My Mother?” and “Hansel & Gretel.”

    How very, very cool, though. When we were residing the house last year, in the few days the original siding was off one of the eaves, a couple of birds started building a nest in there. I felt so bad when the workers put that siding up because the birds flew around for several days trying to figure out how to get in. they eventually found a tree in our backyard, but I had mommy guilt. For birds.

    Ohhh, how sweet! We love birds! I love to see the mama’s feed thier babies in our yard…with their little mouths open…so precious.

    Hi Suzanne, last summer I placed a ceramic plant holder on the front porch(just for decoration).Before long I noticed a small bird building a nest in it. I watched it for progress and after a while I saw a few eggs in the bottom. One morning I awoke to a lot of bird squawking, I looked out the window and there was a large Blue-jay eating the bird eggs. He had pulled all the eggs out and their contents were spilled all over. I felt so sorry for the mother bird. I love the caption NOW YOU DIE. Thanks for all the neat photos. love your blog.

    Can’t remember what the book was called, but there were some true and rather amazing stories about animals. Now, there was this chicken and one day when her nest once again was checked for eggs, instead of eggs, there were kittens! The mom of the kittens came every day to give them milk, but for the rest of the day it was the chicken who took care of them. One day, the cat had taken all the kittens with her, except for one kitten. They didn’t know if the chicken just hadn’t want to give up that kitten or if the cat had left the kitten for the chicken as a thanks.
