Princess, pounding up the stairs…..
I can hear it already. That’s her bedroom up there. And there are stairs! STAIRS!!!! I feel like I’m risking my life every time I climb the ladder up to the main floor, much less when I climb up to the third floor loft, so I was thrilled to see these stairs this week.
The upstairs bedroom is the largest bedroom in the house and a fitting boudoir for the Princess.
She wants to paint her room deep dark red. She’s very dramatic.
Here you see the dormer window where Princess will have a window seat. She’s always wanted a window seat. It’s the only thing she asked for. Oh, that and a horse….. And a new Mario game and candy and a couple of DVDs and CDs. And that was just yesterday.
:fryingpan:
There will also a big double window on the side wall.

Above, left, the living room where you can see the cathedral ceiling in the framing. There will be a double window here to the left of the front door, and above one of the dormers will let in more natural light. To the right, the back porch as viewed through the kitchen door.
One side of the wraparound porch leads to a door into the dining room.
The porch floor is finished now, waiting for the porch roof and railings and….
OHMYGOD, porch steps. And I will finally be saved from the dreaded! ladder!
You knew I couldn’t end this post today without a silly picture of one of our dogs in a costume, right?
Happy Halloween!!

"It was a cold wintry day when I brought my children to live in rural West Virginia. The farmhouse was one hundred years old, there was already snow on the ground, and the heat was sparse-—as was the insulation. The floors weren’t even, either. My then-twelve-year-old son walked in the door and said, “You’ve brought us to this slanted little house to die." Keep reading our story....

"Lamb-y, then whammy! Get some tickets to Miami! Snow is easing, but we're still freezing. It may be spring by the astronomer, but not by the thermometer. Mighty fine, then leonine."
