We did a beer in the rear chicken on the grill, had salad and baked potatoes.

Sounds easy and good. How hot was your grill? gas? and how long did you have to leave the chicken on?

That's something I've always wanted to try. We just rarely have beer in the house, and when we do, it's not canned. I may have to borrow a can from one of the boys. I hear it's yummy!

I have cooked it in the oven before and had to pour bottle beer in a green bean can. Gotta do what you gotta do. It was just as good. But I sure would like the grill idea. Any day I dont have to fire up the oven is a good day.

Yes, we actually poured home brew into a soda can. We buy beer in bottles and never have real beer cans.
Gas grill, gauge read 350 degrees and cooked it around 1.5 hours — using thermometer to make sure chicken was done.
We've also smoked them in our smoker.

Tonight we're having Jayne's Burrito Pie. I like Suzanne's idea of serving it over lettuce and adding the sides of sour cream and tomatoes. We'll also have to add a side of jalapenos — a staple in this house for almost any meal.

Since it's a Monday night football night and my beloved Packers are playing, we're having wings. Just wings, nothing else. Lots of wings, tequila lime wings, hot wings, honey bbq wings. Nothing fancy, just open the package and bake.
I know, we should be having brats, but we're out of propane. DH has not had time to go get the tank refilled and that's one job I'm not doing!

I'm cooking a pizza using the recipe found in this site. I've got a homemade sauce, a few types of cheese, and pepperoni. It's my first time using this recipe so I was a little bit on the cautious side when I started. Can't wait to try it! I'm hungry… Laters.

In keeping with the Mexican theme (we had Burrito Pie last night) we had nachos and jalepino poppers tonight in front of the football game.

Okay, I finished making the caramel cake. I am eating a piece. It is deliscious!!!!
I may have made the icing a TAD too sweet (actually it is okay). It called for 8 oz. of powdered sugar and I used a cup and a half, because I didn't know how much that would be, out of my 32 oz. bag…I prob. should have taken the time to find out..but I am task oriented. LOL
Again, I do not know if her mom used salted or unsalted butter for this recipe- so that could change the taste too, making a saltier tasting cake, if you use salted, but I did not.
I also think the icing was DOUBLED for her recipe picture, because trust me, it did NOT make enough to frost the top, middle and sides - unless you wanted an ULTRA thin glaze and hers is thicker in the picture.
I think it would be nice to make 8 inch layers, for an even thicker cake! I LOVE THICK layers!! (and you do have to bake the layers a good 35 min. even for 9 inch). Mine are medium thick, in the 9 inch…but it is a mild cake - I wonder if the name is for the color of the cake rather than the taste, because I would NEVER guess this to be a caramel cake…it is just buttery, sweet…and I LOVE dark edged layers - I am glad the layers browned well = because it made the cake pretty. Maybe she should have named it Buttercream cake. I just might make this cake again, someday!! I hate recipes with tons of steps. I love quick and easy, but according to the taste, it was worth the trouble. FAB-U-LOUS!

We had left over beef roast in gravy over rice. Quick and easy with peas on the side.
I've been craving salmon, hopefully we'll get that sometime this week. All your dinners sound so yummy, especially with all the fresh veggies. I miss fresh out of the garden tomatoes. I could make a meal of those!
Can't wait to hear what y'all are having tomorrow!

Tonight we're having a simple dinner. Butterfly chops on the grill, salad and rice. I always have either cooked apples or applesauce with pork. I just think the two go together.

Today is an easy meal..I wore my tail out yesterday, making the caramel cake, I posted in Heirloom recipes - it was an ADVENTURE and one I almost never wanted to take again! Now I WANT to, again, someday. LOL I had to refer back to Suzanne's “Burnt Sugar Cake” to get instructions AGAIN, on how to do that burnt sugar!
So, it is grilled pork chops, candied sweet potatoes (canned, with butter, brown sugar, cinnamon simmered) and Limas that I am simmering all am.

I gave my husband a piece of the Caramel Cake today, that I had in the fridge (Maya says to keep it there, until you serve it)…and I froze the rest. Two of us don't need a whole cake. LOL Anyway, he said it was very good, but sweet - the icing. So, next time I am going to use salted butter in the icing, but I still will not use it in the cake because the cake was NOT too sweet. He loved it.
