The quilt I decided to do is a pieced wall hanging with machine applique. It's a really long and skinny thing of my own design. I wanted something to hang on the wall of my stairwell which is pretty tall.
The design is very organic and sort of free form of a tree. I'm beginning to feel a little panicked! Did I bite off more than I can chew? This is the first thing I've ever quilted and I have to do this?!! Aaach.
Lorelei,
I was wondering how your wallhanging is coming along?? Why are you paniced?? Is it overwhelming?? If so, just concentrate on smaller parts/portions. Before you know it — you'll be finished.
It's going to look FABULOUS!!!!!
Gizmo,
I think I was panicked (and probably frustrated) because I couldn't get the tension right on my sewing machine and I have a lot of free stitching to do all over the hanging in that fancy beautiful nylon thread. My design calls for it in lots of places and in lots of colors. I did finally get it right and I think I'm over that hump! It's all such a learning process for me and I'm loving it! Thanks for the good advice and support….you're right, smaller pieces of the whole are a lot easier to deal with. When I get it done I will take a picture and post it.

Hi, I'm Birdi and I'm a fabricholic…..great to be in such wonderful company. Gizmo, the quilts are gorgeous…Nashua was breathtaking…love the colors. And Lorelei, hope all is going well on your quilt. Yes, I crochet and have a yarn addiction as well. I even bought a satin angora rabbit that I spin into yarn to feed my addiction. I feed her and she gives me yarn. I will have sheep one day. Suzanne's goats would make wonderful fiber too, I'll bet.

A good friend claims to be the President of Fabric Fondlers Annonymous. It's such a sweet addiction….
Ok, I crotchet, spin, weave and felt. What kind of wool (sheep) are you looking for/gonna get?? Your bunny sounds great. If you can get any amount of spinnable fleece from Clover and the kids, let me know (although they're a gorgeous color). I've been going about it all wrong….I've been trading milk for mohair.
Have you tried spinning llama fiber, or crotcheting with llama yarn??
Sorry….back to the quilting…..
Lorelei, I can't wait to see the pictures. You just might get some pattern requests.

Gizmo, that is just too funny. Tell your friend that I am a member!! Right now I am buying Dorsett and Romney fleece. Sometimes I buy merino, but its just a little too slippery for me yet. When I find a fleece thats great to spin…I'll buy the sheep. Mixed with the bunny, though, turns most into wonderful combo.
Sorry, got excited about fiber….will go start another thread. Quilting is awesome and truly deserves its own.
