Kathryn, the girls are adorable!

The pic is a little too large for what the forum post box space can handle. (See how it pushes over into the sidebar a little on this page?)  I think the best size for posting pics would be (max) 500 x 375 pixels.  (And if you know how to reduce kilobyte size in your picture program, that's always good to do, too.)  Thanks for making a test!

Kathryn, what I finally figured out I had to do was delete your post because of the sidebar run-over issue.  I'm sorry!  I couldn't figure out how to fix the page otherwise.  I'm not the most technically-adept person in the world!  Just refer to my previous post about pic sizes if you want to post another one and it should be okay.

Thanks! I saw that, then had to leave to go out to Miss Suzie's. I can Photobucket it right down. Thank you for figuring out the size for me!

I can't get an avatar on, although I've done it elsewhere, any tips?

The avatars can be max 50 x 50 pixels.  The one I'm using is 50 x 38.  You might also need to check your kilobyte size as I believe it won't accept a really large kilobyte size.  Mine is 912 bytes (not even a kilobyte).  I use the “save for web” function in Photoshop Elements to decrease kilobyte size on all my pictures.  If the pic you're trying is no larger than 50 x 50 pixels, then it's your kilobyte size that is causing the trouble.  What size are you using?

Let's see if I can get this right, Suzanne. I had to mess with it a little bit the first time! First, I keep things in Photobucket.  So, we need to keep whatever picture we want to print no larger than 500 X 375 as per your instructions, and thank you for figuring that part out! A hint. If you are doing a standing-up picture, as is Remudamom's beautiful horse, make it 375 X 500. You can do all that in Photobucket under the “Edit” function. I think you have to enter those parameters by hand, but that is no big deal.

Okay. I am messing with a scan of a thing I did for a scrapbook page. It was too big, so I edited it down to 500 X (I think) 305, because Photobucket is a lot smarter than I, and decided the second number was what I wanted.

Now, I am going to click on the “Direct Link” space under my picture in Photobucket and copy that. Next, I will click on that little tree thingie at the top of the “Topic Reply” box, and paste that captured URL into the “Image URL” slot. Then, I will cross my toes, legs, and anything else handy and click “Insert”, all the while hoping I don't blow something up.

Hey! That worked! Now, I am going to see if it will post. If you don't see any edits, this is what I did. If it looks wonky, then I will work on it some more.

EDIT: The 500 is still skewing. I am going to try a smaller size.

Okay, I have knocked it down to 400 X something or other, and it is at 3351 bytes.

EDIT: 400 didn't work for this, either. I am now trying a preset size via Photobucket resize at 320 X 240.

I found something interesting. When you click on the little tree thing, and you go on and insert your image, there is a “Dimensions” line there. I clicked on that, and a large dimension was filled in, so I entered 320 and 240, and finally got it small enough to maybe not skew. Here we go!

I store my avatars in Photobucket, too. I follow the same guidelines, and that works for me. I don't know how to do it from anywhere else, though. I'm sorry!

Thank you, Kathryn!  The only thing I did differently was I resized the photo before I uploaded it, that way I could get the exact size I wanted.  Photobucket was really easy to use!  photobucket.com

I love photobucket. You can even make slideshows to share with friends. Be sure to mark your album as private, and you are good to go.

I do all my adjustments in photoshop. Here's a link for making avatars that is pretty easy to use.

This is the Pensacola Pier today.  Ike is 250 miles off shore but is kicking up 20 foot waves here.  Our waves are usually 2-3 feet.
