Do any of you have boxed Christmas candy traditions? For instance, my mother always got a box of Whitman's chocolates from my father (and Chanel #5 perfume), each Christmas!! It was thier tradition. Even when Godiva came out, she got her Whitman's. Also, my mother would get the women a box of chocolate covered cherries. My sister loved to eat one with a toothpick - her litlte ritual, of eating it, HER way, and I guess slowly, savoring it. LOL

Do any of you have a similar tradition?

I LOVE those soft peppermint sticks!!! In girlscouts we use to cut a hole in an orange and poke the stick in it and suck the juice out.

Georgia the girlscout! LOL (I was one too, for like a couple months - until my sister kept calling me a “social queer” - she always has hated anything she considers “goody goody” - still does).

I'll have you know I was a registered Girl Scout for 15 years straight! I loved every minute of it. I was a Brownie starting 2nd grade, wasn't Daisy scouts way back then, then a Junior scout, I still have that uniform along with a box full of all my pins, sashes, badges etc. Then a Senior scout then a leader with my own troup. I wish I was still in it! Girls need it now days but I dont think there are any at all here in town anymore. The girl scout house is all grown up around it. It breaks my heart to see it that way.

I was surprised my sister would call me that, but she was a 60's flower child - what can I say. It was the 60's. On top of THAT, SHE was a BROWNIE, at one time. LOL

I have never heard of Daisies…

I suggested my brother put his son in Scouts…he acted like I was CRAZY. Hmm and he was never wild…don't understand.

It's See's Candy for my family - growing up in California that was THE candy for special occassions. One Christmas my Dad asked my Mom what she wanted for Christmas. She joked that all she wanted was a 25 pound box of See's. Under the tree on Christmas morning was the biggest white See's candy box I'd ever seen. My mom was stunned! She was only joking, and in fact didn't dream that a 25 pound box existed. (Back in the 60's they would actually pack a 25 pound box; they don't do that anymore.)

We got a lot of half pieces of See's candies that Christmas. She decided with 25 pounds to choose from she didn't have to eat any piece she didn't particularly care for, so she used a sharp knife to cut the piece in half to check what filling was inside. There were plenty of half pieces for the kids to eat, and we weren't picky about the kind of filling. Heck, it was chocolate! How bad could that be?

Now each Christmas my sister gets her very own pound of See's marzipan - dark chocolate covering an almond paste filling. It's an acquired taste; I've found that you either really like marzipan or you really don't. She does, so she gets her very own box on Christmas Eve. It's only with great restraint she manages to make the box last through the evening.

Ahhhhh…the Daisys just about did me in!  I am NOT good with children.  I am good with my granddog, so maybe there is hope for grandchildren?

This reminds me - I must order the See's Trees (marshmallow trees) for my son.  I get him several boxes - and he does not share them with anyone!

We always get a small box of Whitman's chocolates in our stocking.  When I was a kid, my Aunt & Uncle would always give us a box of turtle candy.  Which I didn't like, but I was nice about it!

See's Candies are my son, Kevin, girlfriend's favorite candies.  I always get her box when I know she's coming to visit.  There's a box sitting on my scrap table right now, since she's coming tomorrow night!  She lived in California as a kid.
