I've collected a few pieces of WV glass. My grandfather worked for Heisey. Have you been to the Big Glass Museum at Oglebay park in Wheeling?? So Cool!
I haven't seen the museum - I'll have to put it on my list of trips to take. I want to visit Fenton — they almost closed last year, and I'm afraid I'll put it off and they really will close before I get around to going. Heisey glass is beautiful! I have some pieces, but right now I don't even remember the patterns. I had a glass-aholic friend who collected Heisey, so I became familiar with it. I grew up with my aunts serving hot dogs for lunch on Fenton and Fostoria. My great-grandmother had boxes of glass in the attic and even the root cellar when we sold her farm in 1969. I didn't even know there was a name for the type of glass until I saw it referred to as depression glass. I found the background behind it fascinating - and I was hooked.
Oh I have some pieces of Fostoria too. Grandpa worked for them for a while too! I remember always stopping at the Fostoria Outlet at the foot of the Wheeling Bridge.

I visited Fenton this year. I used to go all the time - I'd pick up a piece of glass or two for gifts or friends. Going to Fenton was part of “going shopping.” They've changed the gift shop. You use to be able to pick up wonderful seconds - and affordable firsts. Now there is lots of imported glass - and painted glass (I've never cared for the painted glass) - and high end EXPENSIVE pieces. So, last time I went, I was disappointed. Not the Fenton of my memories - but things change. In my opinion, I'm not sure this change was for the better. http://www.fentongiftshop.com/
If you go, the Williamstown area has lots of fun things to look at - and then Marietta is just across the Ohio River. It's a trip that is definitely worth taking!
I have loads of WV glass. Mine is mostly packed up - I can locate pieces when I want them - I have an organized system - so things get used - just not so much on display as my tastes run more towards pottery, wood and pewter. My pieces were handed down from ancient relatives I wink, but I'm serious! I display lots of the marbles - because I'm a marble nut!

All of your collections sound really cool!!!! and interesting! I wish I could say I had a fascinating strange addiction..but I would have to say mine is cosmetics…everyone in my family would tease me and say “Donna may not have clothes, but she has MAKEUP!!!”. I am talking THOUSANDS of dollars worth. I am better now. LOL Maybe that's a sickness! LOL I am ONLY better because I cannot WEAR alot of it now.
When I was younger, I liked shoes…my older sister was the clothes nut and still is, and she's a plant freak. But, for some reason, as I got older, I really LOVED perfume and makeup. My bedroom and vanity looked like a small boutique!!!! One whole shelf of my Amoire was filled with perfume. I had plastic tubs filled with makeup…and yes, it was overwhelming because I could never wear all of it and would find things and forget I had them, so had new makeup all the time…and ALOT to give to others who didn't have any or needed some. I supplied alot of friends and relatives. LOL With cosmetic bags too. (and it didn't HELP to have a friend that sold Lancaster!!!! in her MIL's dress boutique - she gave me the samples…freebies and free makeup SATCHELS). Ha
Now, I have a reasonable amount…in my vanity drawer and on the top, only…and few perfumes. I'm cured! Ha
I was also collecting dish patterns…I had some Butler's Pantry, Lenox Swedish Lodge, and Mikasa French Country….as well as a pattern I inherited from mother, from Japan, which I gave to a newlywed friend, with an old china hutch. I LOVE dishes…I would like to get a formal pattern and another everyday pattern…maybe I will start that up again. Oh, and I was starting to collect William and Mary Armetale….Christmas glasses from our Libbey glass factory here…ect. ect. Serving glass…

Yeah - I, too have a “glasses” collection - I think it goes hand in hand with my dish problem!

My husband would say I have an addiction to hair products. I currently have 6 diffrent shampoos with matching conditioner in my shower. I always have to try the new stuff. I have 3 new kinds of shampoo and conditioner in my desk drawer from Avon, I can't take home till he is away next week hunting. Oh and don't even look in the bothroom cabinet it is full of gel, mousse, hair spray and spritz and lets not forget about the straightening products the anti-frizz stuff the make it curly stuff and the heat treatment serums.
Oh and please don't tell him I have over 100 bottles of nail polish hidden in the closet. Me and my daughter sneek upstairs to her room to paint our nails while he is watching TV.
Oh and I am definately addicted to animals. We have 4 dogs, 2 cats, 3 roosters, 1 hen and a bunny. I bring home every stray and believe people when they say they have to move and can't take their animal and they will have to take it to the pound if they can't find it a home. Really I had 13 dogs and 9 cats at one time, I fostered them (nursed them back to health) until I could find them good homes. People drp off animals in our neighborhood all the time and I can't stand to see them go hungry. I keep the vet in business, I don't even have to tell them who I am when I call.
Who wants to break my plans for Goats to my husband?

I will have to visit Williamstown. I have a few cousins from my mom's father's family there. As a matter of fact one is me in 20 years. It is eerie! I was there a few years ago.
