This 'n' That

I got my book back in the mail! (I’ve been finishing up revisions on my 2009 book.) This means I’m free Free FREE! I shall run in circles, wear purple glitter, and dance with Coco!

Or, maybe, actually, I will make cheese, finally. (Expect a cheesemaking post SOON!)

52 brought me a present to celebrate.

Wine…. (Wild grapes.) Flowers…. (Wildflower seeds to strew about the meadow.) And dinner! (Seeds for the fall garden.)

In other news, I made some technical adjustments to my website in the past few days that I want to let you know about. I revised the menu bar below the header to include more resources that will, hopefully, make navigation around the site easier, adding the topic pages to the menu. Specific posts associated with each topic go straight to those pages now (as well as appearing here on the blog). The purpose of this is to make it simpler for new visitors to find the various topics I cover here, and also to make it easier for people who might miss a few days to catch up. Now, if you miss a few days (please don’t! I will miss you!) and you want to know what you might have missed in recipes, for example, click the Cooking button on the menu bar and you’ll see the most recent post in Cooking. Click the Crafts button and you’ll see the most recent crafts post. (I’m hoping I’ll get to do more crafts this fall and winter-this farming from scratch thing has kept me hopping!) If you want to know what the chickens or goats or Coco have been up to, click the Barn button. The latest in gardening posts appears with the Garden button, and the latest in my country life postings can be found at the Country Living button. All posts appear right here on the blog first! So don’t worry, you won’t have to go looking. These pages are set up for you to catch up, and also to find other previous posts you might have missed as on each topic page you’ll find all the posts in that topic from the past.

On another celebratory note, we topped 200 this week in registered members on the forum! Yay! If you haven’t been to the forum yet, please join in! We have so much fun there! You should see all the incredible recipes! Another recent topic hot topic is Simple Sandwiches, jam-packed with great ideas. A new and fascinating topic is Did you know that…. (Learn how to peel a banana like a primate!) And, well, we always want to know what you’re having for dinner. (C’mon. You’re invited!)

Okay, I’m off to run in circles, don purple glitter, and dance with Coco! What about you? Got a reason for purple glitter today? (You can even make one up!)

Congratulations!! Try not to let any glitter get on Clover. I haven’t gone to the Forum yet. Not sure I would know how, I can barely get my email. Can’t wait to hear about the cheese making.

Yea for 52 and his “romantic” gift!!! Very thoughtful - he knows you - YES IT IS PURPLE GLITTER DAY FOR SURE - it is finally getting cooler here in texas. I have been making glass angles, lighted glass bricks and towels that hang with a potholder, decorating for fall, getting my recipes out, getting ready to make pumpking and apple butter, spiced cranberry jam, spice cake in a jar and so on, not to mention soups in the crockpot.

You must go to the forum, it is at the top just click on or go to the side of this blog page and see Forum Blogg and click on what you want to read. it is the up dated modern pen pal way to get to know people.

so happy purple glitter day everyone

The coffee is good and hot this morning. That’s enough of a reason for purple glitter for me! (and the site redesign looks wonderful. The menu bar will be so helpful.)

Yes! I think I will at least wear purple today. It’s cool here in Atlanta - I have my office window open, Emma, my cat, is ecstatically bouncing between the window ledge, my keyboard, and the top of my printer as she waits for her breakfast. I had a great day with my sister yesterday - she’s a Sept. baby and I’m Oct. (the very best month) and for years we’ve tried to have lunch/dinner between the days. She now lives in Asheville, but as a former Delta employee, could fly here yesterday and spend the aft with me. So - yes! And Suzanne, congratulations on the book - this is wonderful news. I hope Coco doesn’t tromp on your toes while you’re dancing. :catmeow: 7/

Oops - forgot - was too busy writing about MYSELF! 52 is a wonderful man - the idea of seeds is marvelous. In fact, I think I’ll try to find some wildflower seeds that would work in Iowa and send them to my daughter, newly married and newly moved to a tiny town in the Loess Hills area. With LOTS of acres of land and 3 dogs to enjoy the flowers. :catmeow:

I just can’t decide what to do first…eat something I shouldn’t, read, eat more, take the dog for a walk……nice gift from 52…a man of my dreams. Waiting on the cheese and eggs. They are comming I am sure of it!

It’s a purple glitter day here! I cleaned the kitchen top to bottom yesterday! Whew! It was an all day job! I washed and rearranged everything…so I’m celebrating that…and…

I started the first book (by Suzanne McMinn) in the Haven series last night. It was hard to put down. I see so much of YOU in this book…the farmhouse and things you must have experienced. It’s a very interesting read for me — I think everyone that reads your blog will love it (if they haven’t read it already).

I thought I’d read the first two books — and I’ll buy the latest as soon as it comes out! I’m already looking forward to it!

Love the changes to the site.

I will do the purple glitter dance (sans Coco, cuz, yanno, I don’t live there) over going to pick out a new mattress because the one we bought six months ago sucks swamp water.

It will be a very happy day if we can find one we both agree on.

I don’t have any purple glitter…would a mixture of red and blue glitter do?
YAY! for you on the book! WooHoo! It’s like graduating college, or going on vacation, or finally getting to make cheese from your favorite milk goat!
52 is so thoughtful! I tell you, he knows how to pick the gifts!
On a sadder note. I still can’t get through to the forum by signing in. I don’t want to keep pestering you, because I really have a feeling that it’s my inadeptness at the keyboard and all things computer. I’ll keep trying though, I don’t want to miss out on all the fun!
    Congratulations on the book!

    Suzanne,

I like the new menu bar. I recently missed about a week and a half of your blog due to Hurricane Ike. We had to evacuate and when we returned we did not have any power. I finally have power at work and the power at home is yet to be on. It is very hot and humid. It has been a very hugh struggle…..not only emotionally but financially. However, I am very thankful that I actually have a home that survived Ike. Please pray for our community……there are so many struggles in our area. Some people lost everything they had including there homes and businesses.

    Press On,

 Congratulations Suzanne!!!!! I don’t know HOW you do all that you DO!!! You could run circles around ME!!!!

 Precious Coco - is that not the MOST PRECIOUS look in the world????? I love that pup! (you too Dukie!!)

My husband and I just got done INDULGING in Suzanne’s fabulous homemade chocolate cake and fluffy white frosting. I made it in a 13×9x2 pan…and I just gave him a spoon and I had a spoon and I told him “you eat on YOUR corner and I’ll eat from MY corner”…he was like “no plates????”. I said “no, it’s too dreamy to cut…cloudlike frosting, so just dig in”…I think he enjoyed doing that, and he certainly LOVED the cake. Our 21st anniversary is this Sunday, so we can be indulgent, I guess. LOL

Thanks for making things so easy for us!

My purple glitter day is because I bowled a 214 this morning - I’ve only gotten over 200 twice in my life and not that high ever.

Hang in there happyathome - I had one of my cats disappear for 10 days once and it was this time of year. Luckily a thunder storm brought him back - I’ll do a rain dance for you.
