Yes! I got an ornamental cow for Valentine’s Day!

Okay, this was not exactly what I had in mind when I said I wanted an ornamental cow, but it is too cute. It’s a cow banner to hang from our new front porch. 52 also gave me flowers-the kind I love-gladioli and dahlia bulbs to grow myself. Plus dark chocolates and a huge box of fresh strawberries!

He loves feeding and watching birds, so I got him a finch feeder and finch food, and a hanging bird bath (isn’t that neat?) and a fresh-made loaf of Grandmother Bread to take home with him.

I fixed meatloaf (I love meatloaf!), mashed potatoes, bread and Chocolate Lava Cakes for dinner-and he brought asparagus and cooked it for me. He makes the best asparagus. I’ll have to do the recipe for his asparagus on here someday. I’ll never eat asparagus any other way again!

Then Princess coaxed him into a game of hot hands-which is, if you don’t know, a game where you place your hands in the other person’s hands and try to outwit each other in moving fast to slap their hands before they can slap yours. I don’t like to play this game because I like my hands how they are-intact. And Princess is a scary hot hands player.

She started out like it was all fun and daisies.

Don’t believe that smile and calm demeanor.

Next she’ll start making silly faces to try to distract you.

Then she’ll pretend to be mad.

Usually, she can discombobulate her opponents to the point where she can practically break their hands slapping them.

Only she started laughing so hard at 52….

That she couldn’t even get mad when he beat her.

(Sorry for the somewhat blurry photography-it all happened too fast for me to adjust my camera settings!)

You had any special evenings lately? That was a special one for me.
