Cracker Candy is so deliciously simple, you probably have the ingredients already on hand for one version or the other. And you know you want some.
How to make Chocolate-Dipped Cracker Candy:
All you need for basic chocolate-dipped cracker candy is dipping chocolate and crackers. Any kind of standard crackers will do-Saltines, Ritz, Club, etc.
Melt the chocolate in a double boiler then drop crackers in one at a time. Using utensils, spoon out the crackers and lay flat on a cookie sheet lined with wax paper. Chill. You’re done!
If you have a few more ingredients on hand, you can make Toffee Cracker Candy!
How to make Toffee Cracker Candy:
1 cup butter
1 cup brown sugar
crackers
12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate morsels
1/2 cup chopped nuts
Line a 9 x 13-inch pan with aluminum foil. Spread crackers evenly on the bottom of the pan. (Any kind of standard crackers will do.) Heat butter and brown sugar in a pot. Bring to a boil for three minutes.
Ever see that old movie, The Blob? That’s what boiling butter and brown sugar looks like. Scary. If it takes over your house, I apologize.
Spread butter and brown sugar mixture over the candy. Sprinkle with chopped nuts if desired. I like to pound nuts inside a plastic bag with a hammer. Kids like this, too. Makes really finely chopped nuts and it’s fun. Bake at 350-degrees for 5 minutes.
“I dream of cracker candy.”

Remove pan from oven. Sprinkle 12 ounces of semi-sweet chocolate morsels on top. Put pan back in still-warm oven (turned off) for about 15 minutes to let chocolate melt. Remove pan and spread melted chocolate. Chill until firm. Turn contents of pan onto a covered surface and peel off foil.
Break candy into pieces. Hide half for yourself then call the children.

Want even more chocolatey bliss? Throw some peanutbutter in between two crackers and then dip! That’s the way my family makes ‘em.
In fact, I think I’ll go make some right now…

Mmmmm! Cracker candy is the best! There’s something magical about chocolate-dipped salty stuff.
A friend of mine makes a different variation using some kind of gooey, caramel stuff with dates and nuts on a Ritz cracker. So good!

We like to smear some peanut butter between the crackers before pouring the chocolate over them. SOOOO yummy! Love your blog.

Ah, memories from the 50’s! We used to make the simple dipped Ritz candy. We stuck two Ritz crackers together with peanut butter before dipping in melted chocolate chips. Heaven. Try it.

One day later…okay, I couldn’t wait for the next grocery store trip…I used what I had to make some NOW…I took my wonderful Toblerone bar, cut it in pieces, melted it on my Ritz crackers and smoothed them with a butter knife, when they came out, and stuck them in the fridge to chill and Walla! YUM…cracker candy, instantly. LOL

I made a half batch of the Toffee version cracker candy today, being as I will prob. be the only one eating it. It is soooo fabulous. I used Club crackers. I also used Hershey’s MILK chocolate chips. I do like semi sweet at times, but prefer milk chocolate MOST of the time. I am storing my candy in the fridge. YUM

I am getting ready to make Toffee cracker candy…my husband went to get me the Hershey MILK chocolate chips because he picked up the Nestle ones and I don’t like them AS much, although those do seem to melt better. I am making a large pan this time…it is THAT good. Usually, I cut the recipe in half…but I have to have a regular recipe this time. LOL

Oh My Gosh!!! This is the best candy in the world. My sister sends it to us every Christmas and my husband and I fight over it. I’ve never made it…I’m afraid to learn how. Everyone should try it. I’m a West Virginia girl living in Florida now. I go home to the hills every chance I get.
