Hi
I live in North Brisbane, Queensland, Australia – a truly beautiful part of the world. Brisbane has a humid sub tropical climate with hot, humid summers and quite dry, mild winters (which we are in now). I live with my partner Stuart, my son Brenton 15 and my step-daughter Rhiannon 15.
I am new to this site/forum and just finding my way around. It is 6.23pm now so I imagine as I go to bed you will all be getting up, so if it takes me a little while to reply blame the time difference lol.
I have a blog http://theserendipitycafe.blogspot.com/
I am really looking forward to spending more time here/participating in the threads and getting to know you all better.
Sunny smiles from Australia
Kimmie :]

Hello everyone. I just joined this morning. Looks like a wonderful site. I live in Southern Maryland; moved back this past October on the family farm where my husband and I just built a new home.
My husband is from the Danese, West Va. area. Still has much of his family there. We had bought some land and a old house back in 2001 in Meadow Bridge, and had thought of retiring there one day, but so many things changed in our lives..my mother passing, and the following year, his daughter. Maybe one day, but for now there is so much to do on the farm.
Working in DC…looking forward to retirement within the next year.
Looking forward to meeting all of you!

Hello! I'm new here so I wanted to say hi. My name is Heather. I'm 32 and my husband and I have been married almost 8 years. No kids yet, unless you count the animals. We have a chiweenie dog, a cockatiel, a bearded dragon and a bunch of fish. I am a violinist – I play in an orchestra and teach private lessons. In my spare time, I make all kinds of stuff. I like to make jewelry, sew, knit and crochet, and I LOVE to cook and bake. I am excited to be here!

Good morning!
I'm not new here, been lurking for a while, but decided to break my lurk with a Huge burning question about Broccoli, and then was told to come over here and say hey. So – hey!
My name is Kate – and I love love love reading all the posts on here! People have such interesting lives!
I have five kids, a small garden, hardly any animals , work full time as a dog trainer and part time as a writer. Love to cook, hate to clean, my camera frustrates me, I read eclectically and always, and am a closet (shhhhh!) WII fit-aholic.
Looking forward to playing nice with you all!

Hi, I'm Shiyiya, Shi for short. Reading through here I feel really young – only seventeen, though I turn eighteen later this year! I found the site searching for information about catching wild yeast for a sourdough starter, and ran into a Grandmother Bread post. My mum, one of eleven siblings, grew up on a wheat farm in western Kansas, and I grew up reading Laura Ingalls Wilder, so I've always been in love with the idea of farming, even though I live in the suburbs in the desert and my family manages to kill MINT. I'll be moving to England later this year. I'd absolutely love to live on a farm – I've always dreamed of it, and I love cooking and have always wanted to be able to make and grow and can more of my food myself. (I have a huge book from Reader's Digest called Back To Basics that has instrucstions for everything from builsing a house to smoking meat to canning food to making your own soap, and I love it and have read it all dozens of times.) Have I mentioned that I LOVE to read and read near-constantly? Just this past few weeks I've started baking more, soemthing I used to be a little leery of because you actually have to use recipes – one of my favourite things to do is make my own soup, with no recipe of any kind. But it turns out I make deliciously light and flaky biscuits, perfectly moist cake, and fantastic bread without too many flops! (I shouldn't have used butter instead of shortening in the cookies. They because puddles. >_<)
Um. Rambly introduction over.

Hi Everybody, I am Rina, Grandmother to 2 x 6 yr old boys, just wished they lived closer, but see them most school holidays. I have been married to George for 30 yrs, and we have 3 kids, the youngest 28 still wont leave the nest.
Talking about nests, we have 11 chooks, white silkies, buff pekins, 1 leghorn and 2 austrolpes.12 Suffolk sheep of which 5 are lambs not even a month old, 7 moggies and 1 english springer spaniel. The sheep get greens which I grow and I supplement their feed with bailed lucerne, sheep pellets and a pony mix which has molasses, oats…. in it. Foxes are a huge problem here, touch wood, all well so far.
We are both very handy people, and are doing most of the work at our Bellbrook property 6hrs from Sydney in the hinterland of Kempsey(town is 60km away, pop.160) We have a 5yr plan to retire(3 yrs left), to get the place up and running, build a home, plant trees etc. Be as self suffecient as possible.
Thank you for letting me join you nice folk. Until next time Rina
Please feel free to visit my blog by clicking on my name! Welcome any comments, thanks.

Hello everyone! My name is Patricia (Patty), thus pattymommie. I think I confused GeorgiaZ on that earlier! :) Years ago my two young stepchildren used to call me patty mommy, in order to not confuse me with the "real" mommy! Anyway, I live in Minnesota, near St. Paul. I have 3 children, my oldest daughter is 13, my middle son is 12, and my youngest daughter is 11. Yes, I was pregnant for three years. That was not so awesome, but they ARE awesome kids! I love reading Suzanne's posts each morning, doesn't feel right if I miss them! I'm always out looking for ideas on how to feed my growing teen/preteen children without going totally broke. I finally invested in a freezer and am looking forward to utilizing it to it's full potential! My husband is a farm boy from North Dakota, so he appreciates my interest in country life! I guess that's about it for now!

Hi, I'm Joy and I live in the Ozark Mountains of Northwest Arkansas with my husband of 39 years, Ben our cocker spaniel and the many squirrel, deer, raccoons and birds who show up for food daily! I am a wife, mother, grand-mother, daughter, sister-in-law, aunt and friend. I love my family, nature, the things that have been passed down to me, decorating our home, writing and sharing. I am new to blogging, starting http://grannymountain.blogspot.com back in February in the middle of Arkansas' worst ice storm in 100 years!

Chic – from a Farm in Halstead, KS
Hello! My name is Maura, I'm 56 ( for a little while longer) and live in rural Kansas with my best friend and husband Keith on 5 acres that we just purchased June 09. We are SOOOO happy to be finally living where you can see the stars and actually hear the 'sounds of silence' if you don't count crickets and frogs and other sounds of the country . Right now we have 2 Shih Tzu's Bubba and Chelsea and 9 chickens and one rooster (all named). The plan is to one day have a few other critters around here like goats and probably a cow that my husband says I can't name. Hmm. When we bought our little farmhouse it needed lots of work so we've been living in our camper since June 19th while we put 'update' the place…which has included wiring painting crown molding and now finally we are down to re-finishing the floors…all done by us. Can't wait to finally move in…hopefully within 2 weeks (if all goes well)! Anyway…I am SOO happy to have found this website…I've been looking for something like this forever it seems and how I feel like I've found my internet 'Home'. Thank you!

Moving this here:
From Charm of the Carolines:
Suzanne,
I love, love, love your blog and visit every day! I've never written a comment before but was compelled to now. You see, I have a blog, and I wrote on the topic of clotheslines, but I keep moving this entry further and further into the future to make room for more timely posts. However, it's scheduled to go live on Monday (if I don't push it back again!).
Just wanted to let you know we are kindred spirits, and I appreciate your authenticity and courage to move your family back to the farm.
Susan
PS. I don't have a clothesline yet, but have added it to my Christmas list. Hope Santa reads your blog, too.

Welcome, Susan!! Welcome to Maura, too!!!

I'm Robin. I live in WV, in the Eastern Panhandle about 80 miles from the nation's capital and about 6-8 hours from our state capital of Charleston. I came to WV in 1970 from Chicago to go to nursing school and never left. I'm married with a stepson and 3 lovely grandchildren. My husband is retired government. I still work full time at one of the local hospitals in the field of infectious disease and these days that is a challenge indeed!
I have two dogs: Pugsley, a 13 yo male pug/dachshund mix, and Ginger Rose, a 4 yo female fawn purebred pug. The lights of my life – our children – spoiled rotten! We also have a cat: Fat Kat, about 16 yo, a former stray my husband took in, who rules the house.
I love to read: historical novels, biographies, mysteries, thrillers, any thing on historical disease epidemics and am a medieval history buff. I am very proud of my Welsh heritage and am somewhat of an Anglophile.
I enjoy lace crochet and am currently finishing up a crochet lace bedspread. My next project is to learn to tat. I also needlepoint, do crewel and counted cross stitch. I especially like Victorian and vintage WWII crochet patterns. I'm also a computer junkie. I hate TV, except maybe occasional PBS shows.
My husband claims I am "Domestically Impaired" as I hate cleaning, gardening and cooking! I hire out the cleaning and lawn care, can't tell the weeds from the flowers, and fix quick, plain meals.
Despite not being domestic, I'm very much the homebody, disliking travel, shopping (except on the internet – if I could buy my groceries that way I'd never again set foot in a store!), and entertaining except in very small groups.
And I'm a CITR junkie – hate to miss a single day!
