What about a page for some stories about the funny things our pets do? We get lots of ladybugs, and one time my cat ate one…or at least she tried. She gave it a lick and spit it out, but then it was all sneezing, gagging, and going "akkhhhaakkkkhhahhakkkahh" for about 10 minutes. Part of me felt sorry for her, but the other part just about died laughing. She wasn't hurt, btw.

I have the most adorable dogs and cats in the world, but won't torment you. What I really want to know is how I can have two cats and two dogs and still have mice moving into my garden. Maybe I raised them too multi-culturally?

Two of my 7 cats try to open the front door. They get on top my piano next to the door stretch across and put their front paws on the door knob! Silly cats! The others just sit and stare real hard at the door trying to "will" it open,I guess.

My old cat, now unfortunately gone to the great catnip patch in the sky, thought mice were just 'Kitty TV' to be watched for entertainment. I actually saw a mouse come running around a corner and *bounce* off of the side of his face and run off to hide while the silly old boy just watched it all with interest but no desire to chase it or catch it let alone actually EAT it.  He was obviously too cool  to bother with anything as trivial as catching a mouse!
Now I have a young half grown fellow who LOVES to hunt for mice near our old pantry, too bad he doesn't know what to do with them once he catches it! 
Oh well!

My daughter has a cat "Linus" that used to be mine or ours. He's outside more than in. He'll leave a little dead field mouse on her doorstep as a "gift" for them from time to time.

Well, this is'nt a "cute" thing but, one of my little kitties was choking a few min. ago. I was thinking, if this keeps up I'll have to do one finger chest compressions to dislodge whatever he ate that he was'nt supposed to! Finally he quit choking and I gave him water! WHEW! Didnt see any hairball or anything tho. Hoping nothing else comes of this!

I dont' know if its funny, 'cause it makes me want to wring her neck, but my cat loves to eat plastic bags. If there is one around, like on the kitchen table, she'll find it and chew little pieces out of it. I never find the pieces, so I guess she swallows them. I mean, she never barfs them up and they don't seem to turn up in her poop, either, so I don't know where they go. I'm not worried about the bags…I'm worried that one of these days she is going to get sick. I told her that if she gets an intestinal blockage, I'm going to operate on her myself…stupid cat!!!

You just never know what they are going to get into…just like kids. But at least with a cat, I can squirt her with a squirt bottle and she stops whatever it is she doing. If I had squirted my kids when they were little, they'd have gotten me back with their super-squirters!
p.s. If my cat ever grows opposable thumbs, I'm a gonner!!

I got a new cat just 4 days ago and he is lovely! He is 1.5 yrs old, short haired, neutered with all shots. He is black and white spotted and has mittens (six toes on his front feet). He is sleek and healthy, curious and playful and loving. He is extremely affectionate and LOVES to be touched and petted. He purrs when you get near him. He cried loudly for the first couple of nights but has settled down now. He likes to sit on the windowsill and look out. He is at home here now, still exploring every inch of the place, but happy and relaxed.
His first couple of days here were stressful for him. He was very skittish and wouldn't eat the entire first day. He was starved by bedtime and ate some then. He eats well now, is relaxed and at home. He sleeps with my adult son who is at home most of the night.
He is good company and likes to stay near us in the house. I am at home alone a lot and he generally stays in the room where I am, coming to see me often, rubbing noses and toucing foreheads and purring. He is so sweet and gentle natured.
I gave him a few unbreakable, small, lightweight tree ornaments to bat around but I am going to buy him some real cat toys, a brush, a halter and a leash. He is to be an indoor cat, although he does have his claws, but he would be coyote food if he ran wild and free in the county forest next door.
He is a perfect cat and a wonderful addition to our family. I can't believe I have been so blessed!

Congrats on the new feline, Sheryl.
Thought I had shared this story, but evidently not.
We have a rescued terrier mix, said to be primarily Jack Russell. (I don't see the Jack Russell, but he is all terrier for sure.) Not being a small dog, especially a yapping small dog, kinda person, having this very terrier terrier has been difficult at times.
He has begun to do something which simply stops me in my tracks. We have a fairly young, big Tom cat who is now staying inside with the terrier. They have established a good routine between them. But when the terrier decides that the cat should be somewhere other than where he is, the terrier herds him from one place to another.
A terrier herding? Not something I'd ever seen before, and hilarious to watch. Especially since the cat is bigger than he is!

The funniest thing happened to us the other day (although, at the time, my daughter wasn't laughing). My 10-year old daughter has always feared dogs – we don't know – no history of bad experiences – but she becomes frenzied when a dog (any dog – big or small) is near.
We were visiting with a woman who bred small dogs. She saw my daughter's fear and had the great idea to bring out a small puppy (weighed about 1 pound). She coaxed my daughter into holding her and the minute my daughter took her, it went wee-wee all over her. We all started laughing! In her disgust, my daughter forgot to be afraid!
My daughter no longer says, "Oh no – a dog! RUN!" Now she says, "Oh no – a dog! Don't let it pee on me!"

We only have one cat. Zipper is a buff tabby Cornish Rex. He has the wildest personality. If he sees someone turn on the porch light, he will stand by the door & cry til you open the door & let a moth in. The my husband picks him up & holds him in the air close to the ceiling, running everywhere til Zipper catches his bug. This is really funny to watch. He also goes all over the house & picks up all of his toys, & places them on the deep freeze in his food bowl every night so the dogs can't get them & chew them up when they come in for the night. If a dog happens to find one that he missed, he follows it around wailing at the top of his lungs til one of us gets up & takes the toy from the dog. I think he just might be smarter than us.

So my newly acquired five pygmy goats are determined to have their daily laugh at my expense. As I quickly learned, goats make a mess of their hay (no neat eaters here folks). I thought I was brilliant in the fact that I put a horse feeder in each one of their pens (didn't hang it – just set it in the corner of their pen until I become more brilliant and figure out something better).
This morning, I gave each goat family a flake of hay and slide it right into their feeder. Normally when I feed them, I leave their gates open – they are so consumed w/their food, they never notice. Well, this morning I locked up their gates and went to get the water hose. Upon my return, I found only Sweetie and Fat Jack eating – no baby Daisy. No baby Daisy? What the dickens? Where's Daisy? I head into the pen, crawled on all fours to search the goat house (of course, you know I had to kneel in a pile of poop) – no Daisy. Oh nooooo! Daisy got out this morning when I left the gate open to feed them.
Crap! I begin to frantically search and call. No Daisy. Why wasn't Daisy crying? She always crys when separated from Sweetie. Now my thoughts turn to the worse – Daisy is injured or dead. At this point, hubby catches glimpse of my near hysteria and semi-runs over. I'm near tears (I don't do well in emergencies).
There's a rustle… I hear a rustle… I see hay movement… Yes, there is hay movement INSIDE the horse feeder. Opps – out pops a little head. There is my sweet Daisy – she had climbed into the hay feeder (she's a tiny one, folks) and had managed to stash herself behind the flake of hay. Good thing she didn't fall asleep there – I would have NEVER found her!

Okay, this is going to sound strange, but our Boxer started lactacting to feed two starving kittens! Here's the story Morning Glory….
My husband and I went to a good friend's wedding back in October of this year. We thought we had our house taken care of: We had family watching over our home while we were gone, you know, making sure our home wasn't being broke into and checking our mail; they were also supposed to maintain our home for us. One of the "jobs" was watching out for our pets. We had two dogs and had just been given two kittens: Their mother dropped them off and left! So, here's the deal: I bought a bag of kitten chow, and left instructions on feeding….here's the problem–not one of the people that were supposed to feed the cats did! Sure, they threw our dogs food once a day, but the little guys got overlooked.
But, our boxer took care of them for us! We walked into our home and were shocked to see Katie suckling those two kittens! We freaked out! I said to my husband, "Don, she's gotta be preggers!", I couldn't believe a dog that wasn't pregnant could produce milk! But we checked the good ole internet and found that when a female dog knows that something is hungry, she can begin lactating. It's true…we even called the vet and she varified the information. I'm kind of happy that they didn't take care of the kittens; they were full as ticks on Katie's self-made milk. The only drawback to this was the kittens never grew…they are small, but healthy.
I have a pic to prove it….I just have to have the hubby send it to me. The photo is on the main computer and I'm on the laptop. I will add the picture tomorrow for anyone who is interested.

My tuxedo cat, Otis, has taken to being a second backup alarm. I have to get up at 3:30am at the latest to get ready to go to work (5:30am – 2:00pm). I sometimes turn off the bedside alarm, fall back to sleep, and then the backup alarm goes off on the other side of the bedroom. Now I hear beep – meow – beep – meow – beep – meow….. It's as if Otis is letting me know that I had better get out of bed and off to work to earn more money to keep him and Sissy (my tortie cat) in cat chow and play toys. lol

Everyone has a Prince Charming. Mine just took a wrong turn, got lost, and is too stubborn to ask for directions.
