I have two horses…one palomino quarter horse gelding named Snickers and one dark bay morgan mix gelding.  We gave our third horse to our neice…whew, she was an alpha mare and I didn't like dealing with PMS 24/7.

Since I can't figure out how to post a pic, here's a link to a portrait done of our horses.  The artist is a friend.

I love animals but I am not a horse person. I am scared of them, since living in Texas and one stepped on my sister's toe and I saw a WILD horse bucking that was being shoed - that scared the life out of me, seeing him bucking wildly - it scared everyone.

My uncle by marriage was kicked in the head by a horse, when he was prob. in his forties or so…he was a vegetable until he died.

All my relatives in Texas have horses and some ranches…I think they start riding at 2. They just scare me..I mean I have ridden…gentle ones and loved it…but ….

I only have a horse named Charlie, He visits me every night just about the time I am falling asleep. Then I have to get up and walk him out!

Just kiddin, I love horses, like Belladonna says, at a distance. My best friend works at a ranch for handicapped people togo and  ride. She loves it.

HELP! I tried to follow the directions you pointed us to, but I didn’t have any success. I’m trying to see how your picture was included, but I can’t really tell how it was done. I’d love to post a picture, but could you take it in really small steps? What’s a “tree thingy” for one…

Ahhh, horses!  Too old to manipulate the getting on process now, but 30 years ago, I loved to ride.  Now, I don't want to make my first post sound like I'm ancient, but “old arthur” has moved into this still young at heart body, making a lot of things more difficult than they were just a day or so ago.  I have a DIL and granddaughters that ride and compete and I enjoy watching them, and have wonderful memories of days in the saddle.  A horse is majestic, powerful, playful, a confidant you can tell anything to, they look brilliant, but some days they are just plain stupid.  You can turn a horse into a 40 acre open field, and if there is a wire, an old fence, rocks, or anything they could get hurt on, they will find it.  But when they come up to you for a nuzzle, your heart just melts.  And, nothing smells as good as a horse.  Some women need fancy perfumes and roses, but just give me a horse to smell and I love it.  Maybe that could be bottled!  Would anyone but me buy it?  One of my favorite sayings is “The outside of a horse is good for the inside of Man” (or woman).

Gosh you are so right!  Snickers can find the tiniest, wee sharp object in a 250 acre field, position himself just right and promptly fall on it…. and always during a time when the DH is out of town.

I hardly ride anymore.  Just standing there and letting him nuzzle my neck is fine.  And I love how he lifts his head when he sees me walking towards him and lets out a whinny.  (there should be a marriage lesson in there somewhere for husbands Wink)

I don't have horses - at least I didn't when I went to bed yesterday. This morning I was in the kitchen making coffee and glanced out the kitchen window. Usually I'll see a chicken or two, or a guinea hen perched on the porch rail. This morning I looked out on two horses so big they look like they should be pulling a beer wagon. These horses are so big I couldn't touch their back without a ladder! The farmer that leases the fields next to our farm owns these two percherons. They actually used to pull a wagon and a plow for him when they were younger (both the horses and the farmer.) The horses are apparently so big and tall they can walk right over the fence between our two properties. Nothing like 2 tons of horse munching on my lawn to get my attention.

We live on a cattle ranch and at the moment have a string of 12 horses.  Four Quarter horses, two SE Arabians, three Quarabs (Quarter horse/Arabian cross) one Welsh pony and two of her babies, (Quarter cross and an Arabian cross)

We start and train our own horses.  It's mostly my job with some help from the kids.  I can't get pictures up here but here's a couple of sites with pictures.

That's my farm blog, it's got mostly horse stuff on it, with other things scattered in.  Pics of horses, kids, neighbor kids etc.

This is the blog with the horses we've sold.  Right now I'm working with some that will be for sale sometime in the future, we're going to get down to about eight horses and stop breeding.

Trying a picture…Hacinta the Arabian

What a wonderful site to see!!!  I miss our Percheron.  He was black, and as gentle as a ladybug.  He was 18 hh, and weighed a ton.  It was always fun to watch people's faces when we took him to get weighed - grainery, truck scales, etc. :^)

We're down to four horses now (used to have 12).  A Palamino Quarab mare, Buckskin QH mare (DD's), a Palamino Racking mare and a Sorrel Thoroughbred mare.
