I mean, seriously, RIGHT NOW, STOP CLEANING.
I have a food dehydrator and a messy stack of mail. Salt and pepper shakers, a napkin with napkin holders, and this really cool "antique" (maybe from the 50s or 60s) submarine lunch box that a friend of mine who was in the Navy gave to Ross after he joined the Navy.

I seriously did away with the table!!!!! We have the bar we eat at mostly. I put the table out on the front enclosed porch, so when more people are here, I can bring it right back in. There was way too much STUFF getting piled on it and that's all I was using it for! It was part of the decluttering stage we were working on earlier this year.

A vase of flowers, a black platter full of gourds and pomegranates and squash, the mail key, a tea candle, and a pretty bottle of mead

I want to see the submarine lunch box!
Mine is cleaned off for once. i thought I was having a Pampered Chef Party tonite. So there are 3 bottles of soda, some cups, my crock full of wine corks, and an egg basket full of magazine articles I need to index into my recipe book.

Clementines in a bowl of mexican pewter, a salt grinder, a pepper grinder, a cruet of wine vinegar and olive oil, a small bottle of home made hot oil, and that's it.
It's a hideous, uncomfortable table made in Spain of walnut at my mother's direction. It's too tall for the chairs, too small, and has a weird iron cross bar underneath.
No me gusta esta tabla.

PS I never clean at anyone's command, nor do I stop.
My home is clean in the kitchen and the bathrooms. The rest of the house is cluttered but not dirty. I've no complaint against the occasional bit of Irish Lace, as my grandmother called it. Nor do I object to the ski sock on the TV – it has become part of the scenery.
When I visit a friend, a woman I love, I don't care about the cleanliness of her house. I'm there to see HER. to spend time with my friend.
Should someone come to my house and announce that she's written her name in the dust on my dresser, I'd congratulate her on her literacy and drop her as a friend.
Are you here to see me, or are you here to criticize my housekeeping? Please be clear.

I actually don't have a kitchen table. Currently housing the space where one should go, is my computer desk/craft table, so I can tell you what's on it.
Perfume oil, yarn, computer accessories, a file of bank statments & check stubs, some fabric, cellphone, a single serving bottle of Crown Royal, crochet hooks, some jewelry projects, medication, tissues, digital camera, dvds, and a stack of books.

I had to clean the table off, so we could eat at it. It was piled with the weeks mail and newspapers. It was time to see the table again.

Shells said 'mead'. "A pretty bottle of mead".
Is it of your distillation?

My DR table is set up to scrap whenever I want too. I live alone all by myself……

No … I get it from a lovely little meadary set upon the hills on Hornby Island. It overlooks a garden of lavender and the ocean and is so peaceful … I love it there.

Oh neat! I'm sad however, that they do not ship to the US. Some of those mead blends look amazing.

my kitchen table is the "dumping spot" for the house….lets see…. the usual salt & pepper, napkin holder, a vase of fall flowers (i decided to treat myself this week) my grandmothers placemats, my morning coffee, a pile of work i brought home last night, a recipe for rote grutze (german fruit dessert) i printed out for my daughter, my husbands lunch bag, wallet, watch, spare change, keys, small box of votive candles, bowl of apples with 2 bananas that need to be made into bread…2 cookbooks, a christmas craft book, dec issue of martha stewart, my new hobby farm home, a small box of misc stuff to sort thru, my lunch to take to work, and then our coats and my pocketbook are hanging on the back of 2 of the chairs – thankfully most of it is going off the table when we head to work…..
the laundry fairy must be on strike…. usually there's a couple piles to put away too!

I have an old 1850's farm table in the middle of my kitchen with one leaf up and one down that has a woven placemat on it with a big old bowl of apples on top.
