Georgia, I don't think you'd get that when you butcher, because people generally take steers or heifers in to butcher, not bulls.
When dh buys cattle, he wants steers, and there is usually a handful of uncut bulls mixed in there somewhere. He buys on Mondays, works them on Tuesdays and brings them home in a bucket if they're fit to eat.
I like them so much that when it became too much for my mil to clean them I learned myself.

Well, all I can say is…you go girl! Guess I'm a city girl afterall cause I just aint got it in me. I'm still waiting for the day I have to peel that tongue in there and cook that.
And I am not learned enough about the farm life to remember the correct terms of animals when they have been “fixed or clipped” or whatever it is. A cow is a cow is a cow. If I can see em hanging its a bull, if theres udders its a mama cow. I do know we bought a steer cause thats what farmer Wes said it was. I just call it supper now!

If I had cow tongue in my freezer I think it would become dogfood.

Thats the one thing our beef did not contain. We got liver, tail and tongue, but no naas naas. It wasnt even on the processing list to choose from, guess he “lost” them when he was little. Just as well, I'm not cooking them and for sure not eating them. I have over 500 pounds of the rest of him to choose from.
No Thank YOU! That's a dinner worse than grits! Sorry just can't do that, no ma'am! What would possess anyone to eat that when there is so much more beef to eat. I've eaten lots of wierd, wild things, but a girl has to draw the line. I'm with you Georgia!

Today is pasta and a salad…I have so much cooking to do tomorrow that the kitchen is going to think it's already Thanksgiving! I just needed something simple and filling - and this is simple, filling - and fast!

i love it too, but I didnt get it. I got home and my son and his girlfriend had made supper. Salsbury steak (premade hamburger patties w/package brown gravy) macaroni cheese (box store brand) and corn on the cob. And they had called Tammy and invited her too. Bless their hearts, they had “cleaned” house too. But the effort is totally appreciated and I love them for it. So, tomorrow is chicken and dumplins! And it will be better than it would have been tonight.

It's 7 a.m. and I've already got chili in the crockpot for dinner! Brrrr! it was 29 degrees this a.m., so that said chili to my brain.
I've got a hair cut after work, then meeting with the new financial aid director and the old one to go over some reports they need. Hubby is shampooing the carpet, so I thought Chili would be the way to go.

We're having company tonight - and I told them it's “comfort food” on the menu. Meatloaf, mashed potatoes, green beans, salad and rolls - pecan pie and vanilla ice cream for dessert.

Beeyourself..I was just going to ask “what time is dinner, I'll be right over”. LOL Those are my favorite types of meals - good comfort food/country cookin.
We had boring spagetti (no meat), green beans, garlic toast and DH had leftover pork chop and breakfast sausage patty - it was like leftover day, plus spagetti. LOL
