Someone, not sure who, brought the most wonderful fudge into work the other day. Appparentlly it was a customer, and no one is sure which one.

It had a layer of traditional fudge and then a layer of this wonderful moist coconut filling, and then another layer of fudge!

DELICIOUS!Hungry

It tasted like a Mounds bar on steroids!

Anyone have a similar recipe they would care to share?

Thanks in advance!Hug

Oh my!  This DOES sound worthy of making – over and over again!

Maybe a good place to look would be on a site from a coconut producer?  If we can get the brain cells awakened here, I may go look around, when the name of a coconut producer comes to mind…    Butterfly

OMG!  That sounds fabulous!  I always loved Mounds or Almond Joy candy bars.  It would be nice (but not for my butt!) to be able to make them anytime!

This is just a thought, since I haven't had time to give this a test drive. What if you made the mounds candy recipe and layered it between your favorite fudge recipe? Does this make sense?

that's what i was thinking of doing……….actually tomorrow, just because I would willingly do this for the sake of science……….  i did find a the mounds recipe and it is just 4 cups of coconut and 1/4 cup corn syrup.  I'm sure 1/2 recipe of that would be enough, though.

We will need photographic evidence!  Someone else will have to do that task – I will be busy with taste testing…

I have a recipe for mounds balls.  You might be able to put the filling between two layers of fudge, but they are great by themselves.

1 bag of Mounds coconut.  ( I buy mine at Walmart, any brand will do but if you want true mounds flavor, I'd use the Brand)

1 can of Eagle Brand milk  ( I have used store brands but they are runnier)

powdered sugar

melting chocolate or a bag of semi sweet chocolate chips

Mix coconut and milk together add in powdered sugar to make it stiff or to hold shape.  I make mine into balls and refrigerate until set, then dip in melted chocolate.  Keep stored in fridge.  They don't last long.

How much powderd sugar do you use?

The recipe I use calls for 2 cups powdered sugar to 1/2 can sweetened condensed milk, so I would start with 2 cups and add until you get the consistency you want. I'm thinking the filling shouldn't be quite as stiff as if you are making them into balls. Having diabetes is the pitsHissy Fit. I would try each and every recipe posted here, but I don't have enough family and friends to be my guinea pigsPink Pig.

I add it 1/4 cup at a time until it will hold it's shape in a ball.  It depends on the brand of milk and maybe the humidity too.  It is always different.  I just mix until it holds shape.  It's good even if you have to eat it with a spoon and no chocolate.  YUM
