Hi, I enjoy reading this blog and now these forums–but this is the first time I've posted.

I tried the biscuit twists–they looked so good and sounded so easy–and I had a problem. I was careful to follow the directions and double checked everything so I don't know what happened. My dough was very soft and tender so I added flour as I was kneading it. I could have added more,  but not knowing if it was supposed to be like that I didn't want to overdo it and make it tough. When it was time to fold the dough in half it completely flopped on me. It tore and it wasn't stiff enough to fold. Not wanting to toss it out I ended up with a new recipe called Biscuit Blobs. They are in a variety of shapes and sizes, but still taste yummy.

Anyone else try this recipe? What was your experience? Suzanne, what did I do wrong??

Thanks, Ulli

I have not made her biscuits twist yet.  I still can't make cut out biscuits mine are drop biscuits, so your not alone. I keep trying to make ones that look like KFC but always fail to get that fluffy high biscuit.

Hi, Ulli!  I'd say add more flour.  There are all kinds of slight variations that can occur, from the size of the egg to the measurements to how soft the butter was, that can affect it.  The dough should definitely be sturdy enough to fold over, so don't be afraid to add more flour as needed to get your dough firm enough!  It won't hurt anything!

Thanks for the suggestion Suzanne. I'll give it another try over the weekend. I'm also pie challenged–soggy bottom crust is the problem, but I didn't grow up eating pies so I blame my mom… LOL… Going to try some Grandmother Bread next!

Hi all,

I'm new here and was glad to see this post as I had the same trouble with my biscuit twists!  I've made them twice now and both times I had to add quite a bit more flour because the dough was so sticky.  I was worried it would make them dry, but they were yummy and light..just don't over cook them!
