I found a way to conquer and divide all those papers and embellishments to be in view so you know what you have…….. This is over on Winners & Spinners

Way back in the beginning of February, I posted that I was making a rice therapy bag for our oldest daughter for Valentine's and mentioned that I'd post the instructions on my blog for the rice bag and the rice bag cover… well here it is almost the end of March and I finally got those instructions posted… so if anyone is still interested here's the link:

As for what I'm crafting today… I'm still working on the Redwork cushion for the swap that I'm taking part in. I had one finished but decided that it wasn't good enough for the swap, so I started another and now I'm having the same doubts about this, but I'm just going to have to get this one finished and in the mail or else it won't arrive in time for it to be opened on May 2nd.
Oh and I'm also trying to figure out what to do with 8 quilt blocks that I finished sewing together. I just used a couple of fabrics that I had leftover from other projects and kept cutting out pieces until I ran out of one of the fabrics, which gave me enough to make those 8 blocks that now I don't know what to do with.

Just had to use the little ladybug smiley… I have a thing for ladybugs. In fact, I have declared it a sin to kill a ladybug.

I've been working on this baby quilt…it's a Four-In-Nine-Patch…

…more fabric detail…

…and it's taking so long, because I'm sticking this pattern on the blue…

…and because I am a poke…

Georgia, here's a link I found to explain what I was going to try to explain without using a bale or screw thingy……you don't have to be this extravagant at all…..

I wonder if you could dremmel a tiny hole in them? Then glue one of those little tiny eye screws in or am I just making more work for myself? Im really good at that you know.
You are making more work for yourself. Past experience says that if you can find the glue on bales, you are better off. If you use a dremel, you have to use a diamond tipped bit, you wear the regular bits out on one domino. I use the eye screws (glued in and drememled ) to attach stuff at the bottom (bling). Why don't you just come over this weekend and we'll make a batch.

E6000 is exactly what I use. either if you drill a hole for an eye screw, or attach a bale on the back. Are you using ink and stamps or a picture already printed? If you're using ink, make sure to use the Staz on inks or Memento ink. Otherwise it will run when you glaze it. And if you use two colors of ink make sure the first ink dries thoroughly before you apply the second ink.

I used Modge Podge on mine but it isnt really shiny and not really a glaze. The brush strokes kind of showed. Hobby Lobby has all sorts of glazes from thin to very thick heavy hard coats. I found some in the craft paint section, not the oil painting section.
I used the modge podge because thats what I had and it worked as a glue also to stick the pictures on with.

I've been making little baby comforts, for lack of a better word for them. They are about 36″x45″ and have at least 3 thick layers of batting in them, then I tie them instead of quilting. They make up really fast and easy. The hospital is full of pregnant employees, seems we have at least 2 baby showers every month. They are perfect for baby laying on the floor or outdoors. Its really soft and cushy and easily portable and totally washable. Everyone has loved them. Where the quilts are probably a nicer gift, they take lots of hours to make, and I dont really like the quilting part. And mom is beginning to have trouble with her hands and fingers going numb and tingling, so Im not putting any more on her than she wants to do for herself.

It's called Glossy Accents and it's made by Ranger Industries. I've found it all over, HL, JoAnn's and Michaels, even some walmarts. It's usually where they have the ink and stamping products.

Oh, and I sometimes if they are a little big, sew some ribbons into one side so you can roll them up like a sleeping bag and tie to make them easier to carry.

I've been working on baby bibs and burp cloths, but yesterday I put all that aside for my favorite craft….primitives!!! A few weeks ago a made a doll body out of tea dyed muslin and she has just sat there for quite awhile. I thought…. she needs some clothes and a face!! She now has a primitive raggedy Ann face with lots of hair and a pair of bloomers. Tomorrow she will get a dress and an apron!!! Her face is hand stitched with button eyes. I like to do soft sculpture faces and watch them take on a personality. I'm trying to get some things ready for craft shows in the fall!!!

Not my best picture. The one in the middle is finished. The two ends need finishing. I'm out of bales to turn them into necklaces. I'm thinking the one with the nurse and the soldier and sailor will be for my MIL. Both her daughters are nurses, my hubby was the career sailor and his brother a career marine.

I started with fabric I have collected over the years and some really pretty trims.

Cut it all out. Lots of gathering and pinning. And ripping and regathering and re pinning.

Hand stitched the sleeves and lining in, not upside down this time. There is a really pretty little woven pearl braid around the waistline.

4 layered skirt each layer sewn in separately with lace trim. It isnt pressed yet, but this is the finished project. A christening/batism gown for a friend at the hospital.
