I think it would be really fun to plan a little shindig for a little lunch get toghether or something, if you're in the area.

Would there be any takers?

And to ease any fears or worries about the crazy internet people, everything would be done completely in a public place, around other people. You could come/go as you please, nothing too serious just a light hearted get together, maybe with the bonus of a little gnosh, with people that share common interests.

Maybe to break the ice we could bring a recipe or three to swap or something like that?

I dunno, just tossing out ideas…

What do you guys think?

That might be fun. I actually have cousins living in Dunbar on 18th St. We are in Arnoldsburg (take 79 to the Big Otter exit, then go north on 16 and it dead-ends into 33 — or north on 77 through Ripley then east about 40 miles.) We aren’t around the corner, but we are often in or near Charleston for shopping or to see the doctor.

The next couple of weeks are busy - we’re going to the AARP Convention in DC the first week in September. (Don’t laugh - it’s not all old people. The speakers they have are great, and I think this year with the convention in Washington, and the election so close, we may just get to hear both candidates.) They have Paul Simon, Chicago, Natalie Cole, Chaka Kahn…to entertain us at night.

Enough rambling. Short answer is yes, I’d like to get together. Is there some way to email directly to work this out? (I haven’t explored the new Forum format enough to find out.) Hope so.

I think it's a great idea!  I know there are more people who are in this area, but we need to drag them over to the forum somehow so we can discuss it!

Well if you wouldn't mind, maybe make a little note in your blog pointing people over to this.  And then maybe a few Saturdays from now we can all get together?

I have email, but there's also a great little mail feature on the forum, OR we could just start a stopic specficially for the meet up. :D

I don't live in WV, but right on the border (about 15 min. into KY).

I met some of my best friends close to 10 years ago on an online quilting forum.  We get together at least once a year at different events across the country.

I'd love to join all of you, and put a face to the names (typing).Laughing

I've been checking out this site for about a month now and finally decided to get in on the conversation.  I enjoy reading about the farm and goats and I definately love all you recipes.  On Aug. 1st, I made up a batch of vanilla using your recipe.  It should be ready about Thanksgiving.  I live in Parkersburg WV, which is about 1 1/2 hours from Charleston.  I am interested in a get together too!  My sister and I are working on getting a shop on Etsy with our home made wares (aprons, purses, totes, pillows–lots of original ideas).  I am brand new to the blog scene and may have questions for y'all.

I live in Akron, Ohio. I visit Roane County often. I will also be back for the Black Walnut Festival. I will also be at the Genealogy fair. It's the last of September. I am coming down this weekend to look at a little cabin in Clay County, just over the Roane Co. line. Will all luck, I too will own a little piece of Heaven!

This is super exciting to see all the response! I'll try to get things more in order in the next few days and get things a little more coordinated. I just started my job Monday (hooray job!) so I've been out of sorts, I apologize!

I'm about 4 hours directly south of Walton in East Tennessee. I'd love to go, but don't think I'll be able to manage it this time.  Maybe for the next get together.  Gotta have  more than one!  If it gets really big, maybe it could be a covered dish thing? Everyone could make and bring their fav recipes, maybe even some from Suzanne's site. Laughing

So may have mentioned the Black Walnut Festival in Spencer. What about meeting up at the festival? And anyone who wants to could bunk with me and mine while you are here visiting. We have a good-size house (but only one bathroom :) and we have a bunch of airbeds. We’d love to meet you all, and playing host would be a privelege.

A good place for an outdoor get together is Coonskin Park? It's in Big Chimney, WV, near Charleston. Just thought you might be interested.

Here is a link to their park…

I've emailed everyone who posted here that they were interested because we're planning the get-together now.  If you're reading this and you're interested (and can be in Roane County the last Saturday in September), there's still time to post here and I'll email ya!

We would love to come to the gathering, but I'm not sure my husband will be up to it having driven 4300 miles from Alaska. We'll see……would love the info just in case he's game.
