I just got off work.  Going to go find some kind of salad to make to go with burgers.

Off to the mid week farmers markets to stock up on organic fruit/veg and meat etc.

School hols here so have the kids home.

Re-pot my herb pot.

General housework.

Make a big pot of my tasty vegetarian curry to have with rice for tea.

Peruse your forum for a nice dessert to go with that.

Have a lovely day everyone!

Share the recipe for the curry?  I learned to love Indian food in England, and I miss it.  The only time we have it is when I cook.  Since we raise lamb we have lamb korma often (my favorite).  The vegetable curry would be a nice addition to my recipes.

I'm working on dehydrating some strawberries……mom saw something on the food channel and has to have dried strawberries!!  it's some work!!  i think it may be my dehydrator, but it doesn't dry evenly, and you have to flip flop all around………there's a few hours left to go i think.

Hmmm, Cindy.  You may want to research the drying of strawberries.  Seems that I remember from many moons ago that there are a couple of tricks to doing them.  (Or my sinus headache may be making that up.  Who knows…)  Not suggesting that I ever figured it out, was able to do other fruits & veggies, but don't remember ever having a successful strawberry drying experience.  Just can't remember whether they may have to be sliced, dipped in something, or what.

I have a decent dehydrator and have successfully dried nearly everything except strawberries and apples and they both stay rather rubbery – never seeming to get completely dried.  I have not tried in a few summers though and have not researched.  You're the super sleuth Cindy so I know you will find the right answer!

I bought an Excalibur dehydrator last year and it is the best investment I have made in a while. Strawberries come out dry enough to rattle…. one tip that was told to me and is great is buy an egg slicer ….. works great to slice a berry in one move. Also works for mushrooms. If you turn the berry slices after they begin to dry a bit, they won't stick like glue.

I have built a nice stash of dried food – my fav is sliced green onions, next would be spinach.

Oh! an egg slicer!!  I have one……that would make things easier and more uniform.  And I did leave them dry for about 12 hours before I flipped, so yes many were glued to the rack and I had a heckuva time prying them up!  Thanks for the tips!

I'm building up to going for a run. Its a holiday here in Canada today. I usually jog every 2-3 days but just don't feel like it today. Oh well, I'll be glad I went when I get out there. I'll cut the grass later, if its dry and I feel like it. Way too much rain here this year!

Exercising…and cleaning.  I want to get as much done before this weekend as I can…upstairs rooms can be closed off (company coming the following weekend).  I want to play this weekend…and it's time I exposed myself to the sun…gently…I have redhead skin…I can't be going to an island as white as I am…I'll sizzle, burn and turn into a crispy critter!

Why don't all of you come join me around the pool?

Another tip I haven't used, but others swear by, is putting a tray of stuck-on dried food in the freezer for a bit which will make the food much easier to release from the tray. I have been fine with mine as long as I remember to flip stuff early in the process ……..

One thing I was told the other day that I want to try – put some dried fruit in a jar with sweetener of your choice and cover with milk. Shake then refrigerate overnight. Creamy fruit treat waiting in the morning.

Oh, be careful with the sun!!  I thought I was getting some sun gently……..nope, bright red!  I will have the "peel" affect for this weekend, yes beautiful! No

That sounds good!!  When this batch gets done, I'll try it to see if it works!

I am at work of course, but we are closed Friday.  I have been gathering stuff for one of my sisters, her church is having an auction, and yard sale for their building fund.  I have already filled 5 boxes of really good stuff.  How many sets of stone dinnerware does one family need, it's way too heavy.  My eldest manchild told us to give away all his kitchen stuff that has been packed away for 18 years.  I guess he will never move out of the apt we build for him and his brother.  It took me a good while to unpack and clean it up, sister told me not to, but I think they will get a little more if the stuff is clean.  And while going thru it, I decided to keep some of the Anchor casserole dishes.  But i will get rid of 3 sets of dishes, 3 sets of placemats & napkins, old curtains and I even put a lot of the costume jewelry that sister Linda had, post earrings that I will never wear.  Hey y'all I'm decluttering!!!

Don't cry because it's over—smile because it happened!
