Discussing in another topic about how I couldn't live without a debit card now makes me think of so many things I didn't have 20 years ago (and life seemed just fine) but couldn't live without now.
(I'd say a cell phone, but I actually lived without one for awhile recently, but then I'm weird and live in the boonies.)
Laptop wireless computer, for sure!!!!

I am appreciative of a lot, but a few things come to mind. Like Suzanne, my computer and cell phone, but also my serger and my food processor.

I have a thing about cell phones!! Not that they are a useful thing to have, rather the way and place some people deem it necessary to use them, usually in a loud voice and everyone in a radius of 10 yards are in no doubt as to what in some cases are intimate personal information. Most teenagers would rather go out buck naked, than without the blasted phone. They just have to talk with their friends they have been with all day and left 5 minutes ago.We have already gone from in your pocket/purse to permanently attached to the ear.I fully expect to hear of the new implanted cell phone installed at birth.Walk down any High Street these days, half the people are on the Phone! and in some cases oblivious of whats going on around them!!
But then I did mention in an earlier post that I was a miserable old Bugger did;nt I

My husband has in his car………heated seats.
I can and do live without them since I have none in MY car.
But when I get in his – ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh mmmaaaannnnnnn
something about a warm rear end on a cold frosty morning.
SHOULD be a mandatory good time in ALL cars I'm thinking.

Fun topic!
Though I live in the boonies too, cell phone plays an important part in my life. I'd find it hard to live without one. I would also find it hard to be without my computer. I could do without both, but wow! Both make my life soooooo much easier.
Other things that I have come to appreciate this last year, a good well and my crockpot!

Leah, there's a lady who sells her lemon pound cake at the farmer's market in Dayton, Ohio. It is soooooooo good! I've never tasted better. How I miss it!

The problem is, I can live WITHOUT, a cellphone, TV, etc but my boys (hubby and 2 sons) can absolutly not.
I sure do appreciate a computer..and my stove, I love my stove.
I'm a Laura Ingals in the 21 century, love to go back to basic, but NOT without my smoothtop convection stove

I'm okay to live without mail delivery, trash pick up, cell phones, paved roads. I must have have our DSL and our stove! I surely would not miss TV! But my husband must see news and sports!

I love to make bread and bake cakes. Just love the feel of that dough in my hands. But I have trouble kneading it for a long time because of carpul tunnel surgery I had years ago. So….I will have to say that I can NOT live without my kitchenaid mixer! It is my kitchen Cadillac!!! Sits on the counter proudly(besides just being to heavy to move all the time!) and I caress her everytime I pass by the counter…LOL

Hm, don't know that there is anything I couldn't live without …. certainly things I wouldn't want to live without.
I would have a hard time living without my coffee bean grinder …. although I could eventually drink preground coffee.
I would have a hard time without a vehicle …. again, I could bike or walk but it would take way more planning on my part.
I would miss my computer, but I could go to the library if I wanted to really check things out … or at work on a break.
My cell phone is new to me in the past month … I would easily live without it. I got it for work purposes but they can get ahold of me in other ways.
I would have a really hard time living without music …… I think if I went deaf suddenly it would be music that I would miss the most.

There are a lot of things we have come to think of as necessary which just aren't. My cell phone is a convenience I wouldn't want to do without. The computer, the same. But I lived a whole lot of happy years without either of them.
In reality, the modern convenience without which I probably could least easily survive would be the washing machine. Things could hang to dry, but I sure don't want to EVER AGAIN have to wash by hand. (You just don't know how much fun that can be!) Besides, there is often not enough water in our creek to get it done…

What a great topic! Kate, I have to agree. My dh has heated seats in his car and I LOOOVVVEEE that! My car is a diesel and takes almost until I am at work for the heat to get going!
I would miss my cell phone, but I think I could do ok without it. An oven would be it for me. We have a two-burner propane stove if the power goes out, but if I didn't have an oven, how would I bake!

Audible Books and my mp3 player! I absolutely could not survive without!
I care for my 90 (soon to be 91) year old father and I love him dearly, but he has the TV turned up way too loud, which is bad enough, but it's things like marathon Cheers, and The Golden Girls etc episodes… ok shows usually, but he will watch the same episodes over and over and over!!!! I love to read but don't have time to do it so… Audio books ROCK!!!!

i've discovered that i can live without many things…but CITR is high on the list…I'm panning on a camp out on the puter for a long time to get caught up.
But i would have to say music…my mp3 player is just part of me around here…. so I guess I have to say batteries also. I am doing my part in keeping the battery companies in business.
