So I made the home made dough enhancer….I decided to stash it in the cabinet where I keep the quart jar of flour that I use to feed my sourdough starters… so I am baking bread and need more flour and I had already put the flour away…so I grab the jar that is in the cabinet…and pour about a cup into the batter….you guessed it….it was the dough enhancer and not the flour… I debated on what to do and just decided to toss it and start over…
so what's your big boo boo…

Dog biscuit mix does not make good human biscuits!! Same thing……..in jars in the pantry — I hadn't gotten around to labeling all of my jars, thinking I'll always know what's in what jar…..hmm, that must have lasted the rest of the day! Dog biscuit mix has no baking powder, some brown rice flour, but the flour was still white…….looked the same, tasted like flour when I tasted it…….. but, no

We were moving out of our military house on posting, furniture all packed in removal van, neighbour said she would give us lunch before we left.Sat down to Spaghetti Bolognaise, just finished sprinkling the grated cheese on,when she whipped the plates away and burst into tears. Transpired that she had taken the wrong mince out of the fridge, realised at the very last moment it was her dogs mince!! I wonder if we would have known? still biscuits cheese and pickles filled the gap.

I used to stay overnight with my G'ma when I was a child. We were rushing around one morning trying to get out the door for church. Suddenly G'ma squealed….I sprayed deodorant in my hair and hairspray under my arms!!

There isn't enough band width in the world to itemize my funny "mistakes!"
I do keep a roll of freezer tape with my utility knives in the handiest drawer for labeling any jar with it's contents. Not really pretty, but effective until a proper label can be affixed. Not that I've ever used an unlabeled something in the wrong place or anything…

my mom used to drink martinis. I cannot tell you how many times I picked up that glass thinking it was water as a kid. Yeck! Never did acquire the taste. Gives me shivers to this day.
Also, rolled spray and wash under my arms on vacation once.

Prepare yourselves because this will be gross.
Here I am, in the 5th grade and I discovered the sterling virtues of actually not being as sick as I pretended and staying home from school. (I needed a break! 5th grade is darn hard work! Plus, it was not something I could get away with often whatsoever, in fact, rarely).
Anyway, house to myself, I decide fudge is on today's big menu! Yummy! We have pretty much everything – lots of sugar, we have the chocolate stuff in a can (powder) – shoot, I have it down. So I mix away and consult the directions further – oh, bummer, no grease or veggie oil. I looka round for a suitable substitute and cannot find anything. But wait – I'm saved!! I see some Bacon Grease!
Yes, it was not the tastiest ever fudge and I pretty much had to drink it. But I guess I did pretty well. It was gone when mom got home!

Out for a romantic supper with my boyfriend (at that time) …. we went to a really nice restaurant, dim lighting, flowers on the table. Ordered a lovely bottle of wine before our steaks arrived with lovely baked potatoes and salads. Of course we loaded up the potatoes with sour cream and chives ….. except that in the dim lighting we didn't realize it was actually really hot horse radish.

Not my goof but …. when my daughter and her friend were in high school 10 years ago and were here at our house on a school vacation day, her friend decided she would make a big pot of her delicious rice pudding (the only thing she could cook but it was very good) and share it with me when I came home from work.
I was looking forward to it, but when I got home, Heather was nearly in tears – she had "messed it up" and didn't know how she did it. She was upset that she had wasted all the ingredients.
Later, cleaning up the kitchen, I discovered the problem – she had grabbed ORZO from the cupboard.
Nope, rice shaped pasta does NOT rice pudding make LOL

Shells, I played on a baseball teamwho won a big championship (state of Kentucky baseball) and we got this huge big free meal at a banquet on the night of the Big Win. Everyone was spying out the gorgeous good-looking cole slaw and finally helping themselves while waiting for the steaks. "Man, this cole slaw is HOT!" a couple guys said, lol.
Yep, horse radish.

One Thanksgiving, many years ago, I was invited to make a pumpkin pie for dinner…invitation came from a very fussy lady…I was so nervous and young that I must've made 2 dozen pies in practising for the big day…everyone was tired of pumpling pie in the weeks prior to the big day. WELL, on the day that I made the one that would go…my gosh…it was beautiful!!! Yay! mission acomplished!!! The fussy lady would smile for sure! Wouldn't you know it….as pretty as it was…it really doesn't taste very good without sugar! I din't taste it as I was preparing…I was sick of pumpkin by then. Oh well. I tried to save it by making a carmel brown glaze on the top…NOPE…didn't work at all. For years I heard…did you put sugar in the pie?

One year my Daddy asked me to make him some homemade banana pudding…now I'm a "from the box" kinda girl… and I need precise directions when cooking. and my recipe called for me to 'cook the pudding until it gets to the right consistency' HUH?? The merangue topping was not quite as horrible as the runny inside. But my sweet Daddy ate some and told me how much he loved it. Daddies are the bestest.
