Have you heard about the newscaster, named Anne Pressly, who was murdered in Little Rock, Ark. last week? They are having her memorial tomorrow, at an Anglican church, in LIttle Rock - open to the public.
She was only 25, or so…and her mom gave her a wake up call, but she didn't answer, so went to her house and found her …they THOUGHT she would make it, as her vitals stabilized and her brain swelling went down, but sadly, she did not. You can read about it online and even leave condolensces for her family, at the news channel site. She was from South Carolina, but moved with her family to that neck of the woods. So tragic!
She had such a promising career, and had a bit part on the movie “W”. Was loved by everyone…had done so much. Apparently, they think it was a robbery - someone broke in her home or came in and beat her to death…I believe they have a suspect they are watching. Someone used her credit cards for gas, in downtown LIttle Rock, they said.

I just realized I left everyone hanging as to WHAT happened to her, until the end there…I was very tired when I wrote it. Sorry.
How horrible for her mother to have to find her like that…and how tragic that she died. She was just a beautiful girl - you can see her picture online. I hope they catch the person FAST and I'm sure they will.

I just watched some video clips online…she was 26. She had already accomplished so much - just a gorgeous girl…very loving, always smiling…very sad. As of now, they have given 6 people her organs - her body was donated to science . Her dad said they've been notified that six people have been recipients - what a blessing that is for others. At least SOMETHING good came out of this.

I had been catching bits of new about this lovely young lady. I had heard she was doing better and the next morning heard that she had died. Such a tragedy. I also hope they catch the person/people quickly. Very scary.

My parents live in Jacksonville, AR which is about 20 minutes or so from Little Rock. Mom said that when Ms. Pressley first came on, she thought, “oh, another blonde cutie for the news.” Then as she watched her, she came to really like her. She was personable, and came across the tv screen as a regular gal letting you know what was going on in AR. Sounds like she will be missed by many people.
I have to add that the shooting at UCA in Conway, AR hit close to home. I attended UCA for two years, met hubby while there, as well as my absolute best friend in the world (next to hubby that is!) It's odd to see Arkansas on the news twice every six months much less twice in a few days.

I did hear about that school shooting…those are scarey!
I was watching a couple clips of Anne last night, online and she was very personable. Such a cute girl too. It's really infuriating when they catch a killer and they do it for 10.00 for drug money, or some stupid reason like that….any reason is horrible, but you know what I mean. Such a tragic incident.

Billy Graham turned 90 today! I am so excited he made it!!! Franklin said he feels everyone has forgotten him..doesn't even remember him anymore. People were able to leave a msg. on his BGEA website, for him, - birthday wishes, to be put in a large book for him. How cool. I LOVED his biography (fascinating, actually) and LOVED his wife Ruth's biography!!! VERY down to earth people…fun…NOTHING like you would think….
So, Happy Birthday, to Dr. Graham!!!! Alot of his older crusade msg.'s are so apt for TODAY!!

I saw a clip online yesterday…it was GMA or Fox news…can't remember, but Ann's parents were taking the public on a tour through Ann's little house, showing the gate in the back that was closed, but the latch was up…and then through her home. It was a very small home - tiny…but very neat, totally darling…and the bed, was gone..her mom told about finding Ann that am…
They still don't have a suspect…however, I am sure they won't TELL, until DNA returns, ect. to have a solid case..and her parents are not leaving to return to SC until they are found. They also said it was not a robbery, but her mom did notice that something was missing that she and Ann JUST purchased like the day before, so that could be a clue.
I hope they capture the person FAST. It's so sad - what a promising beautiful woman…so young and for her parents, it's so tragic….

Thanks for the update Bella, I was just wondering about this girl yesterday, I so rarely get to turn the tv on at home, I am just too busy to sit in front of it. I too hope justice can be done quick for the families sake.

The lastest is about 8 workers at the hosp. have been fired. They were getting into her records. Turns out only two had REASON to be in her records, for official business. I worked in a hosp. - Peyton Place. Georgiaz..I am sure you can identify.

I know this is not a pleasant subject..but for those of you wanting to know the latest news of this, they arrested an African American man, during Thanksgiving, for her murder. Don't quote me, but I believe they said the following:
The suspect's DNA was all over the place and that he supposedly also raped another woman…and he lived 100 miles from them. They also said that Ann was raped or sexually molested (are they the same?)…and that her hand was broken, from trying to fend him off of her AND she was beaten beyond recognition. I feel so bad her mom found her like this. She was such a pretty woman.
He is saying he is not guilty. Hmmm Strange his DNA is all over.
She had two dogs…I wonder if they alerted her? I guess we'll hear more, as time goes on. But, her parents said they would not return to SC, until they look the person in the eyes.

Well, I had just heard the saying “there IS NO safe neighborhoods anymore” from Patricia Cornwell, in an interview and I believe it. She said even if you are just going to walk the dog, LOCK YOUR DOOR, so no one is hiding in your home, when you return. It IS scarey.

Yeah our house got broken into a couple of years ago it was really scarey. I just hated the thought of some uninvited stranger in my house going through our stuff. They even searched my daughters room she was 8 at the time. I think I washed every piece of clothing in her room and wiped down everything with a disinfectant. I couldn't sleep for weeks after it happened.

How scarey Amanda!!!
Patricia was saying not to be PARANOID< but to think like a criminal..in other words, when you go to the mall…a criminal will see your car and say, if baby shoes are hanging from a mirror, he will think “hmm, a female with a young child” - because what man would hang them from his mirror…things like that. You just have to take precautions…not leave things in the car. Heck I know one man that was arrested for breaking into a car, to steal a chicken dinner, at a hosp.!!!
When I was in my twenties. I went to stay with my friend, in the town we went to college. She had a duplex. We had a fun night, getting to bed late….and just as I was climbing into bed, I heard leaves rustling outside my window. I soon realized it was someone OUTSIDE my window. I freaked out and headed down the short hall, to my friend's room - she had heard it too and met me in the hall, with her loaded 38 (she had to fire in the air once, when her boss was getting robbed, so not afraid to use it). I slept with HER that night. I could NEVER return to live there, had I been single, but she was there the next night, with her Doberman.
Her roomate was majoring in electronics or something…his duplex was all rigged with alarms, but none went off - he was gone that weekend…so PEEPING TOM? Who knows. But, it was VERY scarey.

I am beginning to think that I am much too much of a small town country girl for my own good. We do lock the doors when we go to bed but none of the windows are locked. And I never ever think to lock a door when i leave the house to go to work or the store. I dont lock my car unless I am in it or its going to be dark when i go out to it. But never at home. And yes, I do know that stuff happens and it happens to everyone sooner or later. I am not being niave and I'm not saying that I think it cant happen to me. I guess to sum it up, I am just too comfortable being where I am for almost 50 years now and need to pay closer attention to the details. I am very aware of my surroundings when I am not at my own home or my own turf. I here by promise to be more careful, and not so back woods stupid!

Amen!
Another thing they say to do, is when you get in your car - GO. Don't sit and figure your checkbook out, or make your grocery list…or get on the phone…as you are a sitting target…when you get in, GO. I am guilty of sitting. LOL
