Kroger's has the Ball Centennial edition at a sale price as well. If I recall correctly, it was $5.65 or $5.95.

I have a handfull of coupons that expire this month & they are for things on sale at kroger. They have good prices on their sale stuff, but watch for high regular prices. I gotta stick to my list. I can get great buys like toothpaste and a toothbrush–for a total 50 cents–good brands too.
The stove that I mentioned about a page ago on this topic is GE model from '83. Not bad for the $50 I spent for a chef's stove.

I am so thrilled! I have a small sofa in my living room…and it needs to be recovered, but for now, I cover it with a cotton king sized bedspread…and that isn't long enough for the sides…so it looks rather tacky. We've talked about replacing it…and I say, "Sassy wipes her mouth on it." Our dog wipes her mouth on it. It's comfortable and in great shape…but it's blue – covered in cream. She eats…and goes in there and wipes her mouth…if I don't catch her and do it first. (My fault for wiping her mouth when she was a puppy.) So – I can wash the cover – no problem. My husband says…that dog is saving me all kinds of money (because I can't justify a new sofa because she'd ruin it!). I've tried finding new slipcovers for it – but it has a high back, and nothing I've brought home fits. I was browsing through Pottery Barn online…and behold! There was a "drop cloth" sofa cover! It's made of cotton twill…and just perfect for what I want…because now the sides will be long enough! I can wash it too! That is my latest greatest "good deal" !!!

I forgot to tell you about my latest “find”. While back home, I went into an antique shop…and there was a pile of stuff sitting on the floor. Someone had just brought it in – and it was waiting to be set around the shop – it was tagged. I found a small red oak sewing cabinet…marked $19.95! I grabbed it and opened it – it has little boxes on top with lids…and then it opens out to have a bottom box to store things in. (I'll have to post a picture.) It was filled with sewing items…wooden spools and buttons. So I set it on the counter and looked around some more. I wish I had kept it with me. The witch behind the counter took out the wooden spools and buttons (she wasn't the owner – she just worked there and is probably stealing the owner blind) and I didn't notice until I got down the road. She didn't take the buttons out of the bottom of the little cabinet…they were made of – and my mind shuts down – what's that stuff that they made jewelry and you can find purses…and buttons and other sewing items like crochet hooks…it starts with a “b”??? Well, they are made out of that. I wanted to go back and “get” her…shake her upside down until the spools and buttons fell out of her sticky little pockets, but I figured I might hurt my back. Besides, I got a deal!
…I should have known she did something…when I went to pay, I smiled at her…and she had that “deer in the headlights” look in her eyes. I hope she didn't sleep well that night.

On the other side, there is one of the hinges that is broken. My brother crafted me one that matches exactly…out of red oak…I just need to stain it! (My brother is SO talented when it comes to many things…but I think he has a special talent when it comes to working with wood.)

That little cabinet sounds cute, what a witch to take out the old spools. At the 23 mile yard sale I got a box with ribbons, and other craft stuff, and the lady said I have 2 more boxes you can have for $5, well I couldn't pass that up. I got some junk, but a lot of old buttons on old cards, needles and lots and lots of old thread. I used some of that in my lamp.

Cherry Gal has heirloom seeds on sale, 50 packets for $50. You buy the special and then email a list of the seed you want based on her inventory list. She has over 500 in vegies alone. Here is the link

What a fantastic find! Were the buttons Celluloid? I can't think of anything that starts with B, except Jet Black Buttons. Which if you find them, they are a gold mine! I have a few.

Yes – I was/am excited. These things just don't happen to me! I stuck some of the things that came with in the picture…the crochet hook and knitting needles did not…but those were hand carved (long before I was on this earth), and given to me by someone special (which makes them more special).

Wow Bee . . . I have the deer in the headlights look! Why can't I find such a treasure?! Is it handmade?
Think of all the projects you can create and keep organized in that awesome case!

I don't know if it's handmade. Everything about it is pretty primitive…the wood on the underside was painted an old green at one time – not the piece itself – but just the bottom board…sides that connect to it, not painted. It's like the wood was re-purposed. The knobs are not hand carved…but someone could have made it – or it could have been made and sold that way. It's old. I had to remove years of grime…and it still needs cleaning. The inside wasn't dirty – just the outside.
I just love it! I'm going to store my hand sewing things in it…and use it for mending.
