Hope everyone has a wonderful restful fun fall Sunday. I am at work, so for those who make it to church, someone send one up for me. I’m feeling out of sorts and like I just need it today. Thanks.

Prayers for you Georgia, don't let the fact that you are at work keep you from sending up a prayer. I do most of my praying at work! LOL!
I'm kinda relaxing today. Hubby doesn't have Coachie meetings so we are enjoying a football game on tv together. I, on the other hand, have to head to the fair at 2:30. I'm chairperson for scrapbooking and cardmaking, and today is the day we receive entries. Judging is Wednesday and Thursday the fair opens.
Afterwards we are going to a friends house to meet their son's new bride. They were married in Annapolis this past summer, now the reception for all the people here who didn't make it to the wedding.
Last night we sat outside on the swing together for awhile. The night blooming jasmine smelled so good, the breeze was blowing and we just sat and talked. So nice to enjoy the evening!
It's a gorgeous fall day, I hope everyone gets to enjoy it!

Georgia…here's a little 'church' for you. A message of hope and love in a messed up world. I love this. My daughter played the lead in this same skit in New Zealand this summer. Keep the tissues handy. I've seen it bunches and still cry.

GeorgiaZ..I was just praying for you!
I want to get back to church…I so enjoyed going to chapel on base, until everyone left..all changed. I am sick of only watching on Tv, like we are shut-ins.
What denomination are all of you? (if you don't mind me asking). I have a family that is most of ANYTHING, so I am used to most anything. LOL

Oh and Jayne…I used to try to grow a Night Blooming Jasmine..it never bloomed. The lady told me it would take forever…it did and ended up somewhere…A friend told me about them and how gorgeous they smelled. I was fascinated that they bloom at night.
My sister in law, married in Annopolis or got engaged there, a couple years ago.

Thanks for the prayers and good thoughts. It is amazing how much just knowing there are others who truely care about you.
I was born into the Lutheran church, the same one my grandmother and father was. I went there until I was 40, then decided I needed more. I now go to the tiny Prebysterian church around the corner and I love it there. Not much worship difference, just people personnality difference. It is a very old congregation and very very friendly and caring. My husband calls us Presbylutherans. I only get to go every other sunday because of my work schedule. I really feel the difference when I dont get to start my week out right.
I have to say about Annapolis, dont even know where it is…but every time I have heard of it, I instantly think of Batman! Not even the movies, cause I havent seen any of them, just from the Bruce Wayne days of Batman after school tv. Maybe it Metropolis that makes me think of that. HA! Pretty goofy today!

Oh, and my doctor just came in my office with my lab results. Seems like I have some kind of sinus infection in the back of my head! Didnt even know you had sinus cavities back there, but that explains the throbbing back there. The things I learn working at a hospital! At least I know I’m not crazy, well I am…but not THAT crazy.

Hey GeorgiaZ…that's treatable!!! Prayer answered! I hope you feel your best SOON!! Sinus is no fun!
I was raised Methodist, but went to base chapel too…later wanted to be Catholic, so changed. However, I didn't stay - at least not now…I FEEL Protestant.
My husband is Baptist…we can't seem to agree on a denomination. But, I have Baptist, Catholic, Pentecostal, Methodist, Church of Christ family members. LOL

Bella,
Hubby and I have attended base chapel for most of our married life. He was raised Catholic, I was raised Methodist. We were married in a Lutheran church and attended there for the first two years we were married. (long story about the Lutheran).
Moving from place to place it was just easier going to the base chapel. We always went to protestant services and you never knew who was going to be in the pulpit. It was great for us.
We still go to mass with the inlaws when we are home. FIL was raised Lutheran, but became Catholic when he married MIL, they sent their kids to Catholic school, the whole nine yards. Now 3 of the 4 kids attend Lutheran church or declare themselves Lutheran. Too funny. He says the money he could have saved on tuition! LOL!

Oh and the Night Jasmine, It bloomed the first year we planted it. This year it's just full of blooms. On the other hand, the Carolina Jasmine I planted, barely blooms. Go figure.
Georgia, I hope you're feeling better.

Thanks guys, I actually feel better this morning than I have in a week. Like I may be able to stay awake all day! I’m sure the boss will be happy at that!
Husband was raised catholic too, but of course cant tell you a thing about any of it. When we were in San Antonio we went to one daily mass at a huge catholic church downtown. Suppose to be the first catholic church in SA. Totally old and beautiful and they have a mariachi band! I didnt understand a word of it, but loved every minute of it. I love the pagentry of their worship. And all the standing, squating, kneeling is good exersize after a Saturday night on the river walk! HAHA!
I dont really care what my demonination is called. I just want to be the best Christian I can be and have fellowship with the same, and all others to help me grow and serve.
I want to some day hear the words…”Well done, my good and faithful servant”.

Very interesting Jayne and GeorgiaZ….I always enjoyed base chapel too, growing up…and attended Protestant. However, later, I realized that IN that Protestant service (my class of women) there were some VERY VERY ODD beliefs, that are NOT Biblical. I then realized “I think I want to be with a denomination that share my beliefs”. Don't get me wrong, I think anything Christian is fine..but no, these were way out there whacko things…I was like wow, we are all sooooo different. I would state what they believe, but someone may get offended here. LOL (Pm me if you want to know THAT bad LOL)…but in general, the class could not even agree on BASIC things.
I had to fight and fight all my life to be Catholic…my mother faught me tooth and nail…saying I was only attracted to the pagentry. Later I found out, that she may be right…I still enjoy it and have family members who are…could still worship there…but I FEEL Protestant.
I even had an LDS friend (they don't like to be called Mormons) - beautiful family and wonderful exemplary people…but some strange things, to me…just got get alot of that.
GeorgiaZ…I am so glad you are feeling better!!! Prayer and medicine work!

P.S. - I guess what I am looking for now, is just a church that is ALIVE - that preaches the WORD…that is not dry and dead or secular in views/actions…there is no perfect one. I like a saying “there is no perfect church, because the minute YOU join, it would be imperfect”. LOL So true, but I do just want one that preaches the truth and is not giving milk toast sermons…catering to people/the world…

Sounds like my sister, she always says that the truth isnt always pretty, no matter how much sugar you pour on it. You cant just say that “I’m a good person and I do good things, so thats enough” There is more to it than that. She likes the praise and worship and raising your hands and really getting into it. My best friend was like that too. They lived for it. I live it inside me. I am just not demonstrative, I feel it and thats good for me, feels good to be in on it too sometimes. It is good to be amongst like minded people during worship. I know the strangness of wondering what in the world they are talking about???
I can remember the preacher that baptised me when I was an infant. he was a wonderful old timey preacher. Very strong, loud voice, scary for a child. But her sure got your attention. I dont want to be yelled at but I do want some feeling in it and truth, not all sunshine and roses.
HA, guess this is why there are so many different religions.
My dad has a set of books called the Foxfire series. All about homesteading, and one I loved reading was all about the really back woods and mountain religions. Most I had never heard of, like the ones that had a church filled with snakes! The pictures were incredible, They were singing and shouting and handling the snakes and getting bitten and dying! All in worship! Nuts I tell you!

I am glad you commented GeorgiaZ, because after I posted above, I wanted to clarify MORE..LOL I guess this is a topic I enjoy. I attended a Charasmatic church and also my sister's Pentecostal church. I was sprinkled as a baby, baptized in the Methodist church and then my mother wanted Immersion, so she and I were baptized in my sister's Pentecostal church, privately. Mother didn't care for that church, but she wanted the Baptism.
I agree, that is why they have so many…to suit all. LOL I, myself, do NOT want a charasmatic church. That is not what I meant, when I said “alive” - I just mean, I want the Bible preached, not an intellectual talk…like some do, leaving the Bible out…or sermons so dry you want to fall asleep. Or the church so dead, they don't LIVE what they hear…all of that. Having experienced the charasmatic churches, they are not for me, and I feel (just MY opinion) that they misinterpret scripture and misuse it.
The church with the snakes is “Pentecostal Holiness” - I knew a girl in that…they do tent meetings all over Ohio and prob. West Virg. (anywhere they can) - she is set in her ways and will not listen. She was taught one way and is sticking to it and she also cannot discuss ANYTHING without inserting religion in it - that type. I mean every sentence…I do not believe in “buttonholing” people - forcing things down their throat.
So, to sum all that up…I feel as you do…I try and live it, more than talk it…and I do not want the charismatic mania, the bands, guitars, Starbucks coffee bar (yea, alot are getting that in church)…or all the other entertainment extras…I just want a Holy church, with HOLY Music (not Broadway musicals), so I can come away feeling I have gotten a msg. and worshiped in reverence, rather than rolling down the aisle. I am not criticizing that…but I am just saying, that is not me.

I also want the sermon to be thought provoking and not last two hours, like some Preachers here. I think they think if they talk you to death, you'll give in to salvation…instead, everyone is nodding out. Make it short and sweet, IMO.
I have also tasted the screaming preachers…I actually wanted to throw a book at one, telling him to shut up. It was in my sisters church. He screamed the ENTIRE sermon, like a demonic maniac. TOTALLY TURNED ME OFF. I prob. cut my eyes, each time he looked at me. CRAZY.
I don't like the screamers. I don't mind a voice raising to make a point…but good grief, Jesus didn't holler, I don't think.
I like Billy Graham's older crusades, from like the 60's on…they show like one a week at 6PM central, on TBN…the msg.'s are as relevant today, as back then, and prob. more so. His wife helped him with most of them and his father in law….they were neat people.

Then we are pretty in tuned…I totally agree with all you said. I want people to know who I am by how I live my life. I want to hear the true word and not be beat up by it.
I wanted to throw this funny in here, before I go home for the day. I got this from my boss today. I used the last one all week!
FIVE BEST THINGS TO SAY IF YOU GET CAUGHT SLEEPING AT YOUR DESK:
NUMBER 5: They told me at the Blood Bank this might happen.
NUMBER 4: This is just a 15 minute power nap they raved about in the time-management course you sent me to.
NUMBER 3: Whew! Guess I left the top off the White-out. You probably got here just in time!
NUMBER 2: Did you ever notice sound coming out of these keyboards when you put your ear down real close?
Number 1 And MY all time Favorite: best thing to say if you get caught sleeping at your desk: (Raising your head slowly) ‘… in Jesus’ name, Amen

I have some of the Foxfire books. They are amazing to me. I think I have the first 4 or 5. Fascinating reading. Did you know that they were started to preserve the Applachian history and ways and are written by high school students?
The books have been around since the 70's.
