Hello everyone! I've got a website about living in St. Charles County, MO (mostly suburbs). But there is a section on suburban homesteading which delves into topics like just how self-reliant suburbanites can be. Also, my dh and I just bought 16 acres this summer and I'm considering whether to add this topic to the current site or begin a separate one…or both. We'd like to become as sustainable as possible there. It's a hay farm at the moment :-)

Here's my site:

I visit Chickens in the Road every morning…it's so much fun!!! Glad to meet you all.

http://willoswitch.blogspot.com Just day to day brainfarts.  Occasional whinning.  There may be rants on days that I have to vent.  There are pics of life on The Creek and also old family photos.  There are lots I'd like to do with our blog but what actually makes it will depend on time.

Come sit a spell.

Mine isn't country related, to tell you the truth, I'm still trying to figure out my “voice”. It was originally supposed to be to promote my online craft business, and it still does. But I also have household & business tips, personal posts, etc.

It's http://cathyscreationsmakingitpersonal.blogspot.com/

OK, so I want a blog too!  Just what I get to do on here feels like “letting it all out”. Like I am getting to purge out all those weird and crazy thoughts that nobody really wants to hear in my house anymore.  But to just get it all outside of myself feels better.

So where do I start?  HOW do I start?  I'm like that guy that doesnt know a lot but I know a little about a lot of different things.  Is it just like a public diary?  Or does it need to be about a specific thing?  Somebody give me some kind of guidelines or starting place.  Ideas. Anything.

Thanks for any advice at all!!!

Hi Georgia,

Your bog is just that yours.  It is your own personal diary, that folks on the internet are allowed to participate it (reading and comments).  It can be about everything in your life, a certain part or several parts.

I use Blogger (http://www.blogger.com), but several friends, and this one, use Wordpress (http://www.wordpress.com).  Both have great features, and you'll have to decide which you prefer.  Both homepages are pretty user friendly, and will walk you through the steps to get started.

Good luck, and don't forget to post the link, so we can all come visit.

I've never used blogger, but I've heard it's really easy, Georgia!  I love WordPress, of course.  You can get a blog through WordPress hosted by WordPress, or you can download (free) the latest WordPress program and install it on your own doman, which is what I have here–this is a more complicated option as you'd probably need technical assistance–I do!  The easy thing about blogger is that it's hosted right there on the blogspot domain, as is a WordPress-hosted site.  There are others such as Typepad that are similar, too.

Deb, that looks GREAT!!!  I just have to have more hours in a day…I want to do it so bad!  I guess, if I would get off Suzannes for a while and try my own thing…but then I would miss out on something!  Cant do that!!!

We just moved to the country, so there isn't a whole lot of fun stuff happening yet.  :-)  Just a city girl complaining about all the bugs!  ;-)

Yes! My blog is 50% cooking/food, 40% writing and 10% life in general. Or somewhat thereabouts. :) It's called Life: Unedited. I'd love it if you'd stop by.
