OK folks, heres some of my girls & boys.
Mr. Roo, beautiful red, he is a frizzle.

Missy has 3 eggs, everytime I pulled them out to try to get the pic, she tucked them back under so quick I could only get 2 of them.

This is the group of smaller ones. frizzles, silkies, and mille de fleurs

Silkies have 5 toes, just like I said!

Count em…one two three four and five

And Mr. Ugly, he is a frizzle

My own Spartacus, a red silkie, always gives you the evil eye.

I don't know chickens, but I can tell you, I love those fluffy, silky ones…and any that turn into FRIED CHICKEN. LOL Pretty chickens Georgia! I love the baby chicks too….good thing I don't raise them, because I could NEVER eat one..I would be too attached.

Thats what I always thought too, that Iwould get too attached. But they are kind of like rabbits, by the time they are ready to butcher, you can always get a few more babies to ooo and aaa over. And the cornish x that I got are just ugly awkward, mean chickens. They are bred for meat only, so they grow extra fast. and if you are not careful they can grow so fast their legs cant hold them up. I didnt have any problems with them but I have seen it before. And they never have names or get played with after they are put in their pen to start eating, so no time to get attached. Thats why I have the pretty ones, to take my attention away. I'll be sure to keep you up on how the butcher day goes. Will certainly be something new for me. HA, I was 4 years old the last we butchered chickens, and daddy did 100 of them, took 2 whole days and had 6 of my parents friends there to help. I remember my mom spent most of the day running tothe back yard to throw up where no one would see her. She had just found out she was pregnant with my sister and had told no one but me. Not even daddy. Crazy memories. She has already said she wants nothing at all to do with it this time!

Cute chickens! I have a variety myself but none are five-toed, unless you include the spur of the rooster :). I enjoy raising chickens to the point of obsession! And when I first got them I asked for quail and he brought me home chickens…LOL. Anyway, they are so much fun just to watch and some are very affectionate also (that depends on the breed).

I’ll be sure to tell Silky Girl that. She already has a big head! She knows just how pretty she is!
