I love the movies on Hallmark and Family and LifeTime at this time of the year. I know I see them every year but I dont care. At least they are not trash and they have a hopeful message to them. People change and can make better decisions to redeem their circumstances and so on. I am glad they showed them and did not cancel the tradition just bec we are having a bad year. I was so disappointed when Oprah cancelled her Christmas Favorite Thing Show. I understand her thought behind it and all but still - to me it was like not putting up the town tree or decorating for the season, not baking cookies and cancelling other traditions. Her show was a holiday tradition whether you could afford any of it or would ever go to the show. I have a friend who lives near her studio- so maybe one day. On line I read where some of the folk who attended were really upset at it all. She had massive expensive decorations everywhere. I have been trimming what I spend on Christmas for years and I have done her suggestions too.
Favorite song - O Holy Night - love going to the symphony this time of the year too. so uplifting.

My favorite Christmas song is HAVE YOURSELF A MERRY LITTLE CHRISTMAS. Funny thing, I found this radio station that plays all Christmas songs, so I leave my car radio tuned on that station. Whenever I get into the car, going to wk, shopping, etc. that song came on!
Do'nt know if I have a favorite Christmas movie, because I like so many of them. I like the Hallmark channel movies too, they're great. Jingle All The Way was funny and entertaining. The Griswald Family Christmas makes me laugh, can watch it over and over again.

I like alot of them…O Holy Night, Hark the Herald…
BUT, the one I LOVE and did not know the name of, on the thread “Get to Know Your Friends” is called “Carol of the Bells” from 12 days of Christmas, and it's on the Walmart commercial and Garmin commercial..just love it. But, I do like several.

The music is one of the things that makes this holiday so special. As I sing in my church choir, I love all the traditional religious themed songs, O Holy Night probably being my favorite. But I also love the not so traditional songs as well. Mariah Carey's Christmas CD is still one of my favorites, her version of “Silent Night” and “Glory to the Newborn King” with that gospel choir is killer! John Lennon's “So This is Christmas” always makes me smile. Bruce Springsteen's “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” and “Merry Christmas Baby” make me want to dance. Cheech and Chong's “Santa Claus and his ole' Lady” still makes me laugh. But my all-time favorite song that really gets me going is Brian Setzer's “Santa Claus is Back in Town”. You just gotta check that song out and PLAY IT LOUD!

Carol of the Bells is a very simple song really but you can make it sound so full and great with little or nothing. I play organ, violin, piano, etc. at our church and work with the one or two children we may have when we have them. Anyway, a few years ago we had everyone in the church get out their keys and when we did this song we had them shake their keys and it was marvelous! This has always been one of my favorites.

Remember the song, “I'm Gettin Nutin For Christmas”? It has a catchy tune and goes something like this:
I'm getin nutin for Christmas,
Mommy and Daddy are mad,
I'm getin nutin for Christmas,
Cause I aint been nutin but BAD!
Well, me and my youngest brother David used to change the word I'm to You're and tease my nephew singin, “You're getin nutin for Christmas………..It used to make him so mad, and we'd just laugh. we were just reminecing about that on Thanksgiving.

Hallmark's Season of Miracles is my favorite Christmas movie. Bing Crosby and David Bowie do a version of Little Drummer Boy that I love.

Jane: The Angel adds the magic to the whole movie for me. Although I'm like you, I love the town, everyone in the town and the old house.'
