Just received my Chickens in the Road 2009 Calendar!  It's even better in person - than pictured on Susanne's Blog - perhaps it's because I think I can really reach out and touch Clover now…

It came wonderfully packaged.  Even my idiot mail person couldn't damage it.  Before I start getting hate posts from postal workers or those that work for USPS - or people that have family or friends that work for the postal service - wait!  My mail person is an idiot.  He has damaged more things than any one person should - and he has been reported by multiple people in the neighborhood.  For instance - he took one of those hardcover Southern Living Cookbooks that was encased in cardboard - and he bent it in HALF - and stuck it in my mailbox (because he didn't want to journey to the door).  I couldn't get it out - the person over the post office (his boss) couldn't get it out.  We finally had to remove it with both of us tugging and pliers.  So - I'm serious - it was wrapped wonderfully and survived my (very strong) idiot mail person!

If you haven't done it - place that order today!

Bee, your mailman bent a book? I get those cookbooks - they are massive. If he's that strong as well as that stupid I'd hate to be near him when got angry. He could probably flatten King Kong!

Wow!  Does he lift weights in his spare time?  I can't imagine one of those books bent in half, especially inside a box.

The calendar is beautiful!

Yes, he bent one of those “end of the year” cookbooks - that was encased in cardboard.  I guess our post office has three mailboxes set up for sizing purposes.  The postmaster himself came out to aid me in getting the book out of my mailbox.  The man was red in the face (furious) by the time he got it out.  He took the book back to the post office and crammed it in a mailbox that was the same size as mine - and then when my mailman came in the next day (he is in his 20's) the postmaster made him remove it himself.

I am polite to him - I sure don't want to make him mad.  I have visions of me stuffed in my mailbox…  So we “get along.”  I seldom send a letter from my mailbox.  I take my mail to the post office to be sent.  This cannot be proven, but each time I have sent something from my mailbox, it doesn't reach it's destination.  Right after the cookbook incident (which he had to pay for, by the way) a gift card was taken out of an envelope - it was opened and removed from it's “holder” - it didn't happen because the envelope was torn in equipment - and usually if that happens, it's bagged and tagged that it was opened by equipment.  So, I do most of my business online - and have stopped important mail.  (One year we got seven pieces of tax information that belonged to someone else)  It isn't just me - it's the entire neighborhood.  Whenever there is a sub - well, just say that it's a great way to meet your neighbors that live blocks away…

It all started “with me” (this was prior to the book bending incident) when I complained about him tying packages - such as boxes from Amazon containing books, etc., to the lid of the mailbox.  This isn't supposed to be done - as it damages the mailbox itself.  In our neighborhood, we have these (what I call) tombstone mailboxes.  Out from each house is a brick “tombstone” with a metal mailbox insert.  So, by tying things to the lid, he was tearing up my cemented in mailbox - and you can't really repair that easily.  Anyway, he doesn't do that anymore - perhaps he has matured or was given his last “warning.”

I don't know why they don't fire his a**.  There are so many good people that want and need jobs.  He must be related to someone…

I've lived all over the country - and as a whole, my mail people have been wonderful - some extraordinaryly wonderful!  We move here - and I get “him.”  So, I'm not complaining about everyone - just this one bad apple.

Back to Suzanne's calendars - when you get them - post here about how neat they are!  That's really why I started this - I was just so impressed with the overall quality of that calendar!

I heard a knock on the door this morning and as I glanced out the window and saw the blinking light of my mailmans truck…I let out a yell that started my dog barking and my husband running! I KNEW it had to be my calander! I was WOO HOOin as I opened the door. The mailman got as excited as I was, imagine his expression when I said it was a calander. My husband gave me same look. Yelling over a calander? And even more when I started saying “OH LOOK, its CLOVER!” and “Isn't COCO the cutest puppy” and “Heres Nutmeg and Honey with Clover!” “Where does it say that is their names?” he asks. “It doesnt, I know these animals, they are my friends, I love them!” He went back to his coffee.

It is already hanging in its proper place in my kitchen awaiting Jan to roll around. The photos are frame worthy, very professional. I really knew it would be, but it is even better than I expected, nice thick pages so they wont sag. I do love it! Thank you SweetEFTN!!! Its not only my first Christmas present, but my most favorite! It even has Cinco de Mayo!

Hey, Bee! That sounds like a good idea for another Chirstmas gift to: Me from: Me. I'm going to wrap that one too. We could start a book club to discuss Suzanne's latest book.

I got my calendar today and all the kids had to look at it with me. It's really nice and really thick pages. I have never had a calendar this sturdy before hehe.

I got Suzanne's book at the grocery store earlier this week. I finished it very early Thurs morning after putting the turkey in the oven. Wow.

I love her writing style and I saw her humor in it everywhere. She's so funny, but wow is this book HOT!  LOL
