These are the kind of beans I grew up with …. baked beans, fresh bread …. yumm

Boston Baked Beans

Soak beans overnight in water then boil for 45 minutes. (Mom used navy beans)

ADD:

3 TEASPOONS SALT

1/2 CUP CHOPPED ONION

1/2 POUND SALT PORK, PORK HOCKS OR SPARE RIBS

Bake at 225F for 6 – 8 hours

When beans are tender drain liquid.  RESERVE 2 CUPS OF THE WATER

TO THE BEANS ADD:

1/2 CUP MOLASSES

1/4 CUP BROWN SUGAR

2 TEASPOONS DRY MUSTARD

1/2 CUP CATSUP

STIR

ADD REASERVED BEAN LIQUID AND STIR AGAIN

COVER AND SIMMER 2 – 3 HOURS
