It’s a snow day! Children are outside writing “hi” in the snow on my car and trying to make a snowman out of a basketball. Their perfect snow day–go outside, get sloppy wet, and track it all back in.
Me, my perfect snow day is warm inside, baking something that smells good, curling up with a book. I cooked a big honey ham the other day, so I’m baking bread for sandwiches. Bread’s rising in a bowl already, coffee’s on, and I’ve got plenty of good books. You?
More joy! My new favorite thing–the garden window for the kitchen!!! Isn’t this adorable? It has a shelf, and the sides have screens where I can open the window for air flow. Like when I burn stuff.
The windows are almost all in now, so it was very exciting to go out to the house yesterday to see.

And here’s the front door!!!
The neatest thing about the front door isn’t the door. It’s the wireless doorbell. And it’s not that it’s wireless (which is neat, but I’m not that interested in this techno stuff….). What’s neat about the doorbell is that it plays 64 selectable tunes that you can change out whenever you want, such as Jingle Bells, Happy Birthday, bird sounds, etc. Is that fun or what? Princess is going to be all over this doorbell….. Maybe it was a mistake….
But I couldn’t resist!!!
If you’re holed up in the snow today, here’s something else to read–an interview with some of your favorite Silhouette Romantic Suspense authors at Dandelion!
One more note–I’ve approved my new design and it should be going on the blog sometime soon. I hope there won’t be any technical difficulties during the implementation, but if there are, please bear with me! It’s gonna be beautiful.

Yesterday I took 14 and Princess to the orthodontist. This would have worked out so much better if it hadn’t turned out that their appointment had been Tuesday.
So since we were in Charleston with no braces to tighten, we went to my favorite restaurant, Soho’s, at the Capitol Market. It’s a really cool restaurant inside a renovated old railroad transfer dock building. Outside is a wonderful farmers market. The cuisine is gourmet–one time, I was there with a friend and she asked for ketchup and mayonnaise. The waitress said, “The chef will not allow ketchup and mayonnaise in the restaurant.” Well. Okay….. The food is really good, though, and it’s a great place to people-watch as it is a popular spot for media personalities and local politicians, including the governor. Which clearly made it a fabulous place for Princess to show off her etiquette skills blowing wrappers off straws and shooting Coke out of four at once…..at a table next to Bray Cary (above, the man in blue), CEO of West Virginia Media and anchor of the TV news show, Decision Makers. Of course, a celebrity stalking is not complete without a picture, so I managed to sneak one, then looked around and said, “What other famous people are here today? Oh–me!!!!”
14 said, “I don’t see anybody trying to take a picture of you.”
What is that about?

After Princess finished four Cokes, adding approximately four sugar packets to each one (as if there wasn’t enough sugar in there to begin with?) we headed out to the house to find the concrete being poured in the basement!
Princess was very excited about her windowseat-to-be!

Then she checked out her big window.
And climbed out–
–onto the roof.
She is going to be the death of me.
But truth? We had a wonderful day. It’s rare, a day to goof off with my kids, no schedule to keep. I didn’t even take them back to school. We just….enjoyed. Maybe I should screw up appointments more often.
Giving away this weekend–Kiss or Kill by Lyn Stone, another November Silhouette Romantic Suspense. Let me know if you want to be in the draw.
So what’s on tap for you this weekend? It’s cold here! Might even snow….
