I don’t have a dishwasher, so I don’t have a kitten in it. Does a puppy on the laundry pile (the CLEAN pile) count?

He sure looks relaxed! I love orange cats.

The only kitchen “staff” I ever had was my black Lab, Oscar. He specialized in disposal and floor polishing. He died last year, almost 15 yrs. old. Still feels odd not to have him in the kitchen, especially on holidays. And now I have something called “scraps” to deal with! (RIP, old buddy.)

My cat Songa does the same thing. He comes running from wherever he’s at and jumps on the dishwasher door. I swear, he really is convinced he’s helping.I would love to post the picture on here, but I don’t know how. His other favorite place is the bread box.If I take bread out of it and don’t shut it up immediately, he jumps in it, licks himself thoroughly, and curls up for a catnap.

LOL this is so cute! We don’t have a cat in the house but I’ve caught my little female Shih Tzu Chelsea up on the dishwasher door licking the plates..the little sneak!! :happypuppy: :hungry2:

Our puppy thinks she’s part of our staff. She believes her job is to lick the dirty dishes as they are loaded in the dishwasher.

My orange manx, Sunny Bunny Boo boo head, who look alot like Kitten only tailless, does the same thing. Loves the dryer too so we all are very careful not to leave that door open very long. We also find him in the refrigerator, closets, etc. Crazy cat, but that is redundant. :) Must me something about doors with him.

oh, my little darlin’ is getting so big! My cat Daisey (an orange tabby also) is in love with Kitten. She has had many beaus before this but none as charming as Kitten. They would make beautiful babies together…

My friend has a cat and my 4 yr old is enamored with him. We may get him a kitten for Christmas. It would be nice to have a cat again. We have to be careful where we live there are a lot of coyotes. I would be heartbroken if a kitten/cat became someones lunch.

I just love unique names for pets! Down thru the years we have had; Jontue, China, Wilson, Crow, Victor, Moby, Kato & Banks. That was the cats. Dogs named, Driver, Champ, Kes, Chief & Doc. But my all time favorite from my grandmother, her Persian, Thomas Jefferson Hexagon Brown!

I don’t even have pets (love them, but my husband has allergies). Fortunately, I get to name them in books. But, I love clever names and I’m so glad that peope are sharing. How on earth did you come up with the name Thomas Catfox (which is a very cool name, by the way).

Kitten is just doing his job as the reining regal person in the kitchen! My cat, Emma, has to jump into any open cupboard, check out every open door, etc. And she has to open dresser drawers and help remove things.

I hope this was before you washed the dishes. I have a problem with my dog licking the dishes as I load them.

I always thought I was the ’staff’ and my old beagle-lab dog, Cricket, was the gentry. I’m sure I’ll be looking down for those eyes & wagging tail this Thanksgiving, too. However, I’m thankful for every 15 of the years she was with us. I might just put a plate on the floor in her honor…

I do love an orange kitty. My Riley hops on the counter in front of the kitchen sink and asks for a drink from the faucet by giving me a kiss every morning. If he’s not there waiting for me when I come down for coffee, I worry and have to go hunt for him to be sure he’s okay. Husband banned this water ritual when I forgot that I had the plug in the sink and flooded the kitchen floor, but he doesn’t get up as early as Riley and I.

    He sure has grown!
I recently had my dog put down. He was 15. His name was Barnard Edward Gallant (B.E.G.) We called him Beggety and he was.

I miss having a dog in the house too. He used to keep the floor spotless. I never had to worry about cleaning up spilled food or drinks. It feels kind of odd now, when I drop a little food on the floor and have to pick it up.

I have found a dog that I want. A female half pyranees and half German shepherd. I would love that combination but she’s $300 and I just don’t have it right now. I’m thinking about contacting them and asking if they would consider trading her for a painting. I once got two shitzu puppies in exchange for two paintings from a breeder. They were adorable, but I sold them to a wonderful person. I worked full time and couldn’t take care of a puppy but I work at home now and want one. I will get a kitten with the puppy, too.

Thank goodness I’m not the only one who has dishwasher loving cats…OK, mine have baskets at counter level to supervise my work. I guess they are in Management and I am Staff.

I voted from work and from home today! Yay! Thanks for all of the Thanksgiving recipes and inspiration – I am going to make cinammon rolls and braided apple bread because the kids are begging for it!!!

Well, he is part of the ’staff’ ya know. Besides, pet hair is a condiment.

The Slanted Little House

"It was a cold wintry day when I brought my children to live in rural West Virginia. The farmhouse was one hundred years old, there was already snow on the ground, and the heat was sparse-—as was the insulation. The floors weren’t even, either. My then-twelve-year-old son walked in the door and said, “You’ve brought us to this slanted little house to die." Keep reading our story....
