Confused? Need help finding your way around?
(Wondering how I make photos like this happen to go with posts? I say, “CHICKENS! I need you to clump up together and look bamboozled and curious.” And then they do it. Me and my chickens, we’re LIKE THIS. TIGHT.)
Behold, the main menu. Your portal into the delicious, lovely, instructional, and insane archives I’ve spent the past two years creating in my secret underground laboratory. From left to right, the main menu offers you Home (right back here, the main blog page), Cooking, Crafts, Garden, Barn, Country Living, Forum (come talk to us!), Email (email me! I try to write everyone back…eventually–sometimes it takes me awhile!), and Advertise.

Click on the button for Cooking and you’ll find further organizational options. Appetizers & Snacks, Beverages, Breads (All), Cakes, Candy, etc.

From here, you could click on Cheesemaking and find all my posts related to cheese (including my homemade cheese press).

Or maybe you’re interested in Grandmother Bread. I have a Breads (All) page, and also a Grandmother Bread page and a Quick Mix page, listing all posts related to those topics.

Looking for my pie crust and pie recipes? Try the pie page. Etc.
All my animal stories are on the Barn page. I have options for posts relating to Cats, Chickens, Dogs, Donkeys, Ducks, Goats, Pigs, Sheep, and Wild Birds.

Say you’re interested in chickens.

Click on Chickens and you’ll get all my chicken posts.
Or try Garden.

Or Crafts.

Country Living.

There is also a search bar.

But honestly, me? I wouldn’t use the search bar. My posts are all so meticulously organized via the main menu that I promise it’s faster to find what you’re looking for that way than using the search bar.
And then there is the infamous hard-to-find print button. The old print button is at the bottom of recipe posts. I hid it there in a nefarious scheme to drive you crazy. (I’m sorry!)

I’ve started placing a second print button on every recipe, as seen here, in a more easy to find location. Eventually I’ll get this placed on all my old recipe posts, but for now, be sure to look for it at the bottom of posts on older recipes. It’s easy to find at the top of the ingredient lists on newer posts.

If you click on the Printer-Friendly link, it will give you a nice, clean, graphics-free printable page.

But wait, there’s more!
Two easy ways to open new tabs on my site: One, simply set your browser options to open links in new tabs. Two, hold the SHIFT or CONTROL key down while you click on the link. (SHIFT will open to a new page. CONTROL will open to a new tab.)
Why right-click doesn’t work on this site is explained here. (Thank you to all the readers who helped with solutions!)
Anything else? Ask in the comments and I’ll try to help. Or, I’ll turn you over to the responsible party. And just who would that be, Suzanne?

It’s her.

Address all complaints to Clover.

Good luck with that.
(Wondering how I make pictures like this of Clover happen? I say, “CLOVER! You beautiful thing. I love you. Help me. LOOK AT ME. Pleeeeeeeeezzzzz.” And then I give her 2,348,278 cookies and she does. Ever notice how Nutmeg is always right there? I think she has plans, big plans. And Fanta and Sprite? They’re always hanging back. Because if they get too close Clover will BEAT THEM UP.)
P.S. Someone asked about a calendar. I have a 2010 Chickens in the Road Calendar available now. Buy “A Very Clover Calendar” here. (I earn one dollar per calendar sale.)
P.P.S. It’s coming, it’s coming. The second (shorter) round of the SAM-e contest. Be here Tuesday to see my Top 20 contestant video! (You’ll have fun watching it, I promise!) If you don’t know what I’m talking about or why I want this so bad, read here. Again and again and again, thank you for voting!

"It was a cold wintry day when I brought my children to live in rural West Virginia. The farmhouse was one hundred years old, there was already snow on the ground, and the heat was sparse-—as was the insulation. The floors weren’t even, either. My then-twelve-year-old son walked in the door and said, “You’ve brought us to this slanted little house to die." Keep reading our story....

"First it's glowing, then it's snowing! A pause, then screaming squalls and williwaws. Bright but bitter, then a thaw. Yet again it's cold and storming: What ever happened to global warming?"
