She thinks deeply and sweetly, my Poky. She thinks of hay and she thinks of the Giant Puppy. She thinks of molasses cookies and she thinks of the Giant Puppy. She thinks of pear peels and she thinks of the Giant Puppy.

Okay, okay, SHE THINKS ABOUT THE GIANT PUPPY ALL THE TIME.

Wish our little donkey felt that way about our dogs…she’d like to run them into the ground along with the poor chickens. Today we have to put up a fence to separate the chickens from her…the poor things don’t want to leave the coop! Guess we’ll have to get another animial that she can bond with one day. In the meantime I’ll enjoy your photo’s and dream…

The Slanted Little House

"It was a cold wintry day when I brought my children to live in rural West Virginia. The farmhouse was one hundred years old, there was already snow on the ground, and the heat was sparse-—as was the insulation. The floors weren’t even, either. My then-twelve-year-old son walked in the door and said, “You’ve brought us to this slanted little house to die." Keep reading our story....

Old Farmer\'s Almanac

March 2010
"Lamb-y, then whammy! Get some tickets to Miami! Snow is easing, but we're still freezing. It may be spring by the astronomer, but not by the thermometer. Mighty fine, then leonine."
