I’ll be moving into my pumpkin phase next. This is just a few of the pumpkins awaiting their final destination in my freezer.

What size freezer do you have girl! Did you turn one room into your house as a big walk in freezer or someting? hehehe

  Two upright freezers in the basement. (Both purchased used–really good deals!) One freezer is for fruit and vegetables, with some meat, the other is purely for meat. (And we have a generator for backup so we don’t lose anything in case of a power outage.) We just bought half a cow so the meat freezer is pretty busy now!

Oh man…can we come and live at your house???!!! You’re well stocked for the winter already..it’s not going to matter how long the power is out or your roads are snowed over because you and your family will be just fine. You may have to send out CARE packages to the rest of us!!! I used to be ready for winter like that up in the mountains of BC but I haven’t quite got my hubby to do that down here…now that we’re on the farm we’ll have a big garden next year so hopefully I’ll be canning and freezing again. Now I have to stock up on jars etc…can’t wait! Good luck with your pumpkins!

That’s a lot of pumpkin! I’ll bet those cushaw squash make good pies too!

Do you ahve a cold storage place to keep them through the fall and winter? Freezing is a good alternative. I am slowly freezing my squash.

I hope you show and tell us how you do it. I am SO relieved to read that you have a generator! I was sitting here reading your post and think MAN! you need a generator! after all the work you have done and put into the freezer. Good for you!
