Do you do anything special to dry them Suzanne or just let them dry on their own?

We have some of these growing in our back field nad I would love to use them in my Fall decorations.

They just make neat-looking dried pods. I use them to put in bowls with other neat-looking fall stuff I gather.

No, I just let them dry, in the sun as much as possible–it’s been cloudy and rainy here lately so it’s been difficult!

Reminds me of all the natural decorations my Mom did when I was a kid in Florida – Spanish moss, red berries, seashells, pine cones, driftwood, etc. She also painted (I did NOT inherit the talent) wood and stones. We had some lovely table centerpieces! Christmas time – red berries and silver-painted pine cones…..lovely memories.

I didn’t know they had prickles on them. One time I innocently stopped roadside to gather teasel barehanded. I quickly learned about those!

You can soak them in popourri oil to freshen up an old batch of The stuff you made with the cucumber peels and peach pits. Those are such neat shapes to decorate a fall wreath or table for the holidays.

I found a stone vase cheap at a garage sale.Its an ekenobe vase so you can change the flower or decoration anytime you just put them in the little spikes and it holds them up. Your pods would look great in something like that.

Thanks, Missy. We don’t have any milkweed on our property. We’ve been looking for awhile to find some and found this on the side of the road about 15 miles away.
