I am going to try your pie crust recipe this week! I love apple pie and your Deep Dish one looks amazing! I’ve recently tackled my Mom’s chocolate meringue pie and home made biscuits complete with sausage gravy. I’m excited to make a huge apple pie! And the crust scraps will be all mine!

Mama made a lot of pies when I was a kid and we ALWAYS had pie crust scrap stuff. Mom would re-roll them to make a big round circle, spread a little butter on it, sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon (a lot of sugar!) and then roll up into a log and slice. These were placed side by side in a pie plate and baked. The pie she was making might have been for Sunday dinner but the ’scrap rolls’ was for eating fresh from the oven. Nothing better!

I make pie crust bees out of my scraps. Instead of cutting them and baking in strips, I cut into thin wedges and roll them up- the cinnamon shows though in stripe- then I add a dab of honey and add almond slice wings on the top! Seriously, delicious, these are what people fight over at my house.

Oh Yeah!
My Mom used to roll out the scraps, spread with butter, sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon and roll up. Chill in the freezer briefly then cut the log in slices and bake the “pinwheels”. Yummmmmmm.

We always made pinwheels, too! Last time I made a pie, the kids were so impressed they got to make their own “pie”!!

I LOVE pie crust! I bake just about every weekend and the scraps, well, I use a few pieces of left over apple,chuck of cheddar cheese wrap them in a piece of scrap and bake them on low! Great healthy snack for kids and adults!

Oh my…what a great way to use up the leftover pie crust…looks delicious! I’ve made a great many pies in my life but I’ve just re-rolled it and put preserves on it and folded it over. I HAVE to try this out…thanks Suzanne!

My oldest brother loves pie crust! Just plain, no sugar or cinnamon or jam or honey….Just crust. My Mom would sometimes
bake an extra just for him.

My mom used left-over pie scraps to make my sister & I sugar pies…

Basically your pie scrap recipe, only folded over like a fried pie with out initials poked on it with a tootpick.

Since today’s the first day of Fall over here in Korea & I’ve taken the day off…I might just add sugar pies to my list of things to bake to celebrate the coming of Fall.

Just FYI–the proper name for these delectables is “biddlies.” I have this on the undisputed authority of my childhood best friend, a biddly-maker of the highest degree. Usage: “Pie, schmie; let’s just make some biddlies!”

Thanks for the idea about the pie scraps! I just made an apple pie, had some scraps left and was wondering what to do with them, so I goggled and found your site. As soon as the pie is out the oven, I am going to make these!
