   As a youngster I got a bit too close to an old hens nest (on Grandma and Grandpa’s farm old was only a couple of year old for a hen also). This nesting hen was inside some grapevines against the rock cliff beside the garden and just across the creek from the henhouse (another escapee). I was just out exploring when that hen came off the nest, on the fly, and flogged me around the face. It scared the bejeebers out of me. It looks to me as if mean old rooster should be turned into flytying hackle (he is a nice grizzly color and would make some fine trout flies tied in the old Catskill tradition). From what you get out of the flies you can buy another rooster; a more sophisticated rooster. A Rooster That Ain’t Mean! That would show that mean old rooster.

   I know nothing about roosters, but what if you got one of those supersoaker water guns and blasted him? Would that help?

    Hang a spray bottle filled with water and vinegar on your belt loop and spray that dude in the face! He’ll make a retreat. Well, you better carry the broom too if you get that close! LOL

    For today … bucket of water and as a previous poster hinted at, Sausage & Patty LLC will eventually decide that he will need to seek supplementing his diet elsewhere!

    Or, if you feed him enough as in Over-Feed, perhaps he will get fat and lazy?

    Mean rooster must of figured out that deep inside he is not a rooster but rather he is a pig in a chicken outfit. He has come out of the closet and has found his true self. He is still working though his issues with this sudden realization he does not appear as he really is.

    Your pigs are really pretty by the way. I love their coloring. And so nice an clean and they look rather happy. Happy pigs make good bacon I would think.

    From what I’ve read about pigs and chickens, he may be sorry if he keeps hanging out there as they get bigger. Could be a solution to the mean rooster problem, though.

    I think Mean Rooster has laid clam to Sausage, or maybe Sausage has hired him as bodyguard. Soprano’s style the smartest animal in the group is getting the meanest one on the farm to do his dirty work. Farm animal mafia.

    Animals are pretty smart. Most animals, if they have grown up around a certain animal will not harm it. I think that if the piggies have grown up with Mean Rooster around them, chances are, they won’t try to eat him – unless all of a sudden, there was no other food for them to eat.

    I once had a neighbor that had a huge pig named Pork Chop. On occasion, Pork Chop would escape from his pen and root in my garden. The dratted thing thought he was a dog and would follow people just like a dog would. I guess he must have gotten into other people’s gardens too because one day he disappeared. I would have eaten him in a heartbeat myself, but the neighbor was a 10 year old kid. I just couldn’t do that to a kid. And as you may find, they can be very good escape artists.

    I think Mean Rooster might just have to become chicken dinner one of these days! There are nicer roosters to be had out there who would love to have a wonderful home on your beautiful farm.

    That Rooster has your number. He is going to follow you and torment you all that he can. It probably makes his day knowing he is going to get to chase you!

    When I worked for a dog kennel many years ago in Florida I use to have to take care of the owners animals when they went out of town. Lynn had some geese and they were the meanest things. Every time I went to feed the horses and cows they would follow me and use to bite me in the butt. Man that hurt and I will tell you I was scared of them. You won’t get me near a goose. I know how they are and Roosters must have taught the geese how to be mean because they are much worse in my opinion. Be careful and don’t forget your stick!

    Wonder if he’d get the hint if you carried a stew pot with you. LOLOLOLOLOL. Once those piggies get big…he may be THEIR dinner so he’d better watch out.

    Wanted One Nice Rooster, Will Trade One Mean Rooster who will do a good job of keeping humans away from your chickens!

    I had a mean rooster. His name was Satan. Except when I was mad at my husband, Fred. Then I called the rooster Fred. He was awful all day. But at night he became docile and I could pick him up. I did that often because it made me feel like I conquered him. But each day he became Satan again.
