My Little Donkey

Pocahontas has the most beautiful eyes.
img_3369
Soulful eyes.

I love to look in her eyes. She looks back at me and she asks me for an apple.
img_3326
Or a cookie.
img_33211
She tells me Clover is uppity and that those chickens are So Annoying and that she misses her mama in Ohio.

I tell her that Clover will warm up to her in time—just ask Annabelle—and that she’ll get used to the chickens and that I’ll be her mama now.

She follows me around whenever I come into the goat yard and nuzzles up to me.

She is just a sweet, giant baby.

With sweet, giant eyes.

Annabelle nuzzles up to me, too. She wants to come to the porch. The goats nuzzle up to me—they want a cookie. Pocahontas just wants…..

…..love.

She is precious. Grandpa never allowed anything on the farm that didn’t have a job. The oxen had to pull the sled, the horses the plow and harrows. Goats for the brush, pigs the ultimate recycler were food. Chickens for eggs and cows for milk. I think he would have made a place for Pocahontas though. However, I know for certain he would have used the phrase, “Ain’t no bigger than a fart.” Granpa always cracked me up.

Love her! Beautiful sweet face…I love your farm, its just what I would have, cute, adorable animals you could just hug all day long. (except for mean rooster but maybe he is just misunderstood???? Not!)

So adorable. Cant beat an animal who all they ask for is love. My dog is like that. He is happy to wake up each morning to hugs and pets. And end the day with the same. Add in extra belly rubs and he had an excellent day. lol. The cat on the other hand requires his food bowl to have food in it, a dark place to hide and when he wants love and attention he will let me know.

We have a baby mini, too. Her name is Lilly and if she could she would climb right up in my lap for extra love. She has to settle for big face hugs.

The Slanted Little House

"It was a cold wintry day when I brought my children to live in rural West Virginia. The farmhouse was one hundred years old, there was already snow on the ground, and the heat was sparse-—as was the insulation. The floors weren’t even, either. My then-twelve-year-old son walked in the door and said, “You’ve brought us to this slanted little house to die." Keep reading our story....
