I didn’t see any place to leave a comment on the previous post about Annabelle missing you, so I’m leaving it here. Just wanted to say: Have you ever thought of writing a children’s book about Annabelle? (That’s a rhetorical question, no need to answer, just an idea.)

Oh I do SO know what you mean! Last weekend I did the booth for The Old Schoolhouse magazine (that I write for) in Cinci at the Midwest Homeschool Convention. It is ALWAYS so much fun to meet readers and ALWAYS so much fun to speak (although I didn’t speak at this particular convention)…but…it’s ALWAYS SO GOOD to get home! I love our rural county (we’ve lived in this county for 14+ years), I love my 170+ yr old house (and all the “character” to goes w/it), I love seeing red-tailed hawks fly over-head, stopping in the middle of the road so a deer can cross and I love seeing the faces of my family there. Busy, crowded Cincinnati doesn’t have those things – neither does Detroit! Blessings from Ohio…

Oh yes, Suzanne, I miss you when you are not home. I, too, am a homebody and often don’t leave my home for days at a time. My friends say, “Don’t you get bored?” Bwa-ha-ha, NEVER! There are so many wonderful projects that need me at home. And lacking any project, one can always curl up in a rocker and read a good book. Come home, Suzanne, we need animal pictures, porch pictures, recipes, whatever you care to throw at us.

After being in the work force for so many years, retirement is pure heaven. My home, aka “my little nest”, is all I want or need. It’s heaven to not set an alarm to get up (I’m a night owl and often not to bed til 3 or 4 or 5) and just let the dogs tell me when it’s time to let them out. I’ve never understood people who get cabin fever when snowed in…I’m in my element..Everything I need is here, my dogs and parrot and other critters, my books and music, my crafting and needlework supplies and all of my woods and woodland creatures…WHO COULD ASK FOR MORE??

for future reference, if you’re staying in a decent hotel they’ll probably give you toothpaste and a toothbrush and whatever other toiletries you’ve lost at the airport or forgotten at home… for free! If it’s a super spendy hotel then maybe not because they tend to charge for EVERYTHING!! Four Seasons in NYC charged me $35 for 3 mini burgers, aka sliders. Total about 1/4 lb of beef for the three!

Maybe if you had had a little time to really relax it would have been a better trip but I do know if I go anywhere I miss my pets and I’m pretty sure they miss me too
