Clover, can we talk?

Clover: “About what? I’m busy.”

I know you are, Clover. You’re one of the busiest goats I know. But we need to talk about your udder.

Clover: “Hey!”

I know. You’re touchy about your udder. But I need to observe it. Make a study of it. Photograph it. Track whether or not it’s getting bigger. Then we”ll know if you’re having babies! We want babies, don’t we, Clover?

Clover: “Go away, Woman.”

Cloverrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’m just gonna come in there and take a quick picture of your udder…… Stop running!!!!!! Don’t you dare run into the goat house and barricade yourself on your porch!

Clover: “I’m calling my lawyer. I have rights. You have to have a signed release to post photographs of my udder. I want a cookie tree. And a cookie bush. AND COOKIE FLOWERS WITH BALLOONS!”

“Then we’ll talk.”

She is so good with negotiations!! I think she would make a great union negotiator, better than some I’ve seen!! Oh wait! Don’t let her know that…….Your next headline would be “Stringtown Farm Unionized……By the ANIMALS!!

  My godfather handles his mean rooster by handling him, too. When Alpha gets too aggressive, my godfather picks him up and carries him around for a few minutes. Alpha hates it, and minds his manners for a few weeks (or longer) afterward.

LOL… don’t wait for that udder to show you if she’s prego… Two of mine didn’t udder up till that morning of kidding. Though one did udder up almost a month out.

Know how to pull blood? there is a new test available for confirming.

Ask one of her kids if they’ve seen her knitting baby bonnets & booties.I’m confident she knows how to knit like a pro. She just loves you too much to show off her skills.

Trish’s comment had me cackling – you truly do live on “Animal Farm”!!! Now, you know Clover is going to make you pay for pictures of her udder. Just give in to it now and save yourself a lot of trouble. If the kids can’t tell you, maybe Sugar and Spice could act as your spies and let you know what they find out. Loved that farm photo of the day! I think Sugar was already trying to get a look at the udder….

We’re waiting to find out if Cowboy had the right stuff here too. I was out bothering my goats yesterday trying to feel their bellies and udders! LOL One of them reacts so badly to being touched there I think I’m going to have to start putting her on the milk stand and handling teats her to get her used to it. She’s going to be a stinker when it comes to milk time otherwise!

Hmmm, sounds like you might want to start feeding her in the milking stanchion. Get her used to being up there again, and then you can start getting her used to having her udder “inspected” on a regular routine. Good luck with meeting the demands of the “Diva”. Terry

I really enjoyed your goat post. I am from WV, but my wife and I currently live on a 7 acre “farmette” in Tennessee, where we raise fainting goats. We just had 8 beautiful new babies who are a daily delight to us. Nothing is much cuter than a baby goat!
