I’m standing….

….on our floor!!!!

Steve-the-Builder is completing the flooring in the main living area today. He’ll stop before flooring the rest to install the kitchen cabinets. Then he’ll go on flooring (hardwood goes throughout the main floor and loft bedroom) and he’s promised me a bathroom by Saturday. DirecTV is scheduled for installation. We have phones, electricity, and gas. The only thing standing between me and my fantasy March 8th move-in date is the water crisis. (No new drilling yesterday or today. As soon as I have an update on the water, I’ll let you know! We’re hoping to try again soon.)

In the meantime, after checking on the flooring progress yesterday, I sat down in one of these rocking chairs and listened to the wild turkeys in the woods and looked over my domain of trees and hills and river below.

Our house is almost ready for us. There’s water here somewhere. I believe….
"It was a cold wintry day when I brought my children to live in rural West Virginia. The farmhouse was one hundred years old, there was already snow on the ground, and the heat was sparse-—as was the insulation. The floors weren’t even, either. My then-twelve-year-old son walked in the door and said, “You’ve brought us to this slanted little house to die." Keep reading our story....

"First it's glowing, then it's snowing! A pause, then screaming squalls and williwaws. Bright but bitter, then a thaw. Yet again it's cold and storming: What ever happened to global warming?"
