It’s a beautiful day! I feel BETTER!!! Yes, while I have been bravely blogging on about wild bird suet and asparagus, I have been SUFFERING with the flu. I’ve spent the past several days flat in bed. Suffering. Did I mention the suffering? This is the first new picture I’ve taken in days because if I’d been taking pictures before they would have looked like….
This.
Which isn’t all that interesting. Aspirin, water, tissue box, and the clock by which I watched the minutes and hours of my suffering pass by. And it was a lot of suffering. I suffered valiantly, without complaint. Except for the part where I was complaining, and the part where I decided life was no longer worth living. And maybe the part where I just laid there and cried. I am NEVER sick. I don’t do sick well. So I am just thrilled to be back in the land of the living. And grateful that none of the people I begged over the weekend to shoot me like a downed horse took me up on it.
What a beautiful day! I want to go run down the road and twirl around and feel the sun on my face.
Mmmmm! LIFE!!!

"It was a cold wintry day when I brought my children to live in rural West Virginia. The farmhouse was one hundred years old, there was already snow on the ground, and the heat was sparse-—as was the insulation. The floors weren’t even, either. My then-twelve-year-old son walked in the door and said, “You’ve brought us to this slanted little house to die." Keep reading our story....

"First it's glowing, then it's snowing! A pause, then screaming squalls and williwaws. Bright but bitter, then a thaw. Yet again it's cold and storming: What ever happened to global warming?"

There’s lots of flu in our area, and also a nice stomach virus floating around. I’ll be glad when the winter is over and people can get out and these ‘bugs’ will be gone.
Enjoy your day. Don’t overdo, you might relapse.

People are funny that way. I could never get anybody to shoot me when I had it last year. Very annoying. *g*
Flu shots aren’t effective this year because the flu that’s going around is a different strain from what’s in the shots.

How come no one ever tells me anything?
Sorry about your flu. Our 10-year old managed to break her metatarsal-the big bone in your foot.
While waiting in the ER, (8 hours! And we have insurance. Maybe it was just because it was a Saturday) people who seemed to be death warmed over with flu kept trying to sit next to us, we kept moving.
I’m not paranoid.

Oh and I’m glad I checked yesterday’s blog for that asparagus recipe. Normally I just steam it and add olive oil but that does sound tastier.
