Lunch was….three hours. Three hours that felt like 20 minutes. Then he came here. To meet the cousins. They loved him right away. I might have to fight Georgia for him. He’s good with old people. He listens. Old people love someone who listens. He’s patient with children and kind to animals. His family goes back in this county 200 years, just like mine….
Then I met him at his office for a walk along the river near where he works. He lives in the CITY. But he wants to live in the country…..
I signed in at the lobby of his office building. He works for the state government, so they have a lot of 9-11 security. I told the guard who I was here to see so he could call him down.
Guard: Are you his daughter?
Me: Yes. Tell him that. Tell him his daughter is here to see him.
::doubled over laughing::
Guard: You’re not his daughter, are you?
Me: No. But I’m going to tell him you said that.
Guard: Please don’t tell him that.
Me: I’m totally telling him that.
52 arrived downstairs.
Me: Hi, Daddy.
Guard, hiding behind his desk. 52, baffled.
Me: He thought I was your daughter.
52: You find this very entertaining, don’t you?
Me: Yes.
52: I’ll be patient till you’re done laughing.
He is patient. Soooo patient. We walked along the river, sat, talked, walked back. He never tried to touch me, not even my hand, not at lunch, not when he came to meet the cousins, not when we went for a walk along the river.
Later, Me: Are you attracted to me?
52: Yes.
Me: How come you haven’t tried to touch me?
52: Did I tell you about my cat?
Me: What about her?
52: I found her outside. She was lost, wild. I left the door open until she came inside on her own. She was so scared I couldn’t touch her for three months. But I was very patient with her and now she loves me.
Me, swoon…..

Do you swear you are not making this stuff up?? Because ohmygoodness. I”m like a blubbering idiot with a big smile on my face. This story is making my day. Truly. Go out with him again so we can get another update. Is living vicariously wrong?
Three cheers for you and the cat. And 52. I want a picture. Is that asking too much?

He won’t let me put his picture on here…yet. I’m working on him! (And yes! It’s true! He is real…. All of the people I talk about on my blog are real–Faye, the cousins, Georgia, Steve-the-Builder, 52… They’re all pretty wonderful, aren’t they? I’m SO lucky.)
Letha, the city (Charleston) is about 45 minutes away.

Am I remembering this wrong Suzanne, or several months ago did you not throw into your blog something about a kiss?
Just a simple line, a teaser. But it was there, wasn’t it?
9:45
am
I never said who that was from, did I? I’m such a tease, LOL.
9:58

WOW.
He must have a flaw somewhere. No one is that perfect. If you decide not to keep him, ask if he likes older women. I’d take him in a heartbeat. I betting the other beautiful ladies who post here would too.
I truly hope he is a keeper for you Suz. You deserve someone to “like”. Take care and
to all.

As I have mentioned quite a few times, he is a KEEPER.

Jill, this reminds me of my friend 35 who’s dating a man 55, and at a recent visit to a “burger joint” people were staring at them, whispering, (he is totally gray). Still so fun-loving at 35, she turns to him and says loudly enough for all to hear, “Thanks for the burger, Daddy.” And gives him a kiss on the lips. She REALLY gave them something to talk about then! Being a sociologist, she finds people’s reactions to this May/December relationship interesting, at the least!
Enjoyable installment, and the parallels with my friend are exactly the same. He did not approach her, even for hand holding, until they had been dating several months getting to know one another before clouding things with “physical distractions”. Unique in this day, and I know you’ll savor every second with your 50 something. . .

My Tech Hubby was the same way. It was so refreshing form dating younger men with 8 hands and no brains. Just enjoy it, don’t rush anything. Let yourself be loved and cherished. He sounds charming.

Sounds like he’s in it for the long haul. You lucky bug!

I’m swooning too! Yes, he seems like a keeper. A patient man, a gentle man and a gentleman. Rare these days, IMO.
Becki, you are sharp! I had totally forgotten that long-ago reference to a kiss!
Much Joy to everyone; have a lovely weekend!

AHHHH, how totally sweet and totally worth waiting on to hear this juicy stuff! If I were you, I wouldn’t be able to wait until the next time I got to see him! Sounds like he has a very good job too!

OMG, what an amazing thing to say. A patient man is nearly always a keeper…especially if he’s also got a sense of humor.

I’ve always had strong issues with cloning, the idea of taking over God’s job, but sheesh; can you imagine how happy it would make women the world over if guys like him could be cloned???
He sounds too good to be true.

Hi.
I am de-lurking today. Thanks for the site. Love your recipes. 52 sounds fantastic! I’m glad you put the age thing behind you for awhile. I’m 6 years older than my husband and we compliment each other perfactly! I LOVED the story of the cat. Sounds like a TRUE southern gentleman. Swoon from me too!

I just went back to catch up on this delightful saga of yours and 52″s and all I can say is go with your heart woman,it won’t let you down.

Unless he’s a serial killer on the side, go forth young dame! By the way, since I’m a relatively new reader, I’m not quite catching the age difference. Can you give me the decade you’re in? Is that bad to ask? I don’t mean to be bad. I’m a 36 year old married to a man who is 3 years younger than me but I’d definitely consider a 52 year old if he’s as dashing as this guy! The best of luck to you both! By the way, the cat story melted my cold, cold heart (it’s negative 4 where I’m at today!)

Adina, I’m 43, it’s okay to ask!

Hi Suzanne!
I love…love or even just the thought of love. If you feel this is right then enjoy every minute of it. If and When it turns into something beautiful…You will be very blessed indeed because Mr. 52 sounds wonderful.
But, if he hurts you then we all will show up with these
and a woodchipper for whats left. ;)

Well all i gotta say is “Life is no fun if you just exsist”. Don’t be leary of the age, mine convinced me that he was the one for me, slowly and patiently. I finally, finally agreed to date; it was all down hill from there for me, I was totally hooked! Our May-Dec marriage (14yrs difference) has been wonderful. I can truly say when I lay down the ghost: WHEE, WHAT A RIDE!!! GO FOR IT!

You can’t find many FAITHFUL men…if he is that AND Enjoyable…then enjoy him!!!!
