Guide To Entertaining Yourself In The Country, Tip #485

Nov

Go to the local cemetery and check out all the old names that have not made it back in style.

Where have all the couples named Jasper and Bertha gone? And the brothers America and Columbus? Sisters Emma and Amma? (Emma, okay, but Amma?) Esby? Hoy? Laxie? Rusha? Rean? My own grandfather was named Romeo Napoleon. My grandmother’s name was Olive. Got any particularly odd ones in your family tree? I bet Romeo and Olive hung out with Jasper and Bertha….

Apparently, Icie was a quite popular name. I spotted it over and over. In fact, just recently, there was an obituary for an Icie in the Charleston newspaper. Her name was Icie Box.

I’m gonna cut that out and put it on my fridge….. I’ll tell the kids, “Put the milk in the icie box!”

Or would that be weird?
