God Was Painting

My visiting writer friend’s daughter, with the mischievous Desdemona.

We had a great weekend. You?

My favorite quote from this weekend was my writer friend’s daughter’s comment about wild, wonderful West Virginia. She thought it was so beautiful here, she said, “God was painting when he made West Virginia.”

Saturday, 14 and 16 got busy putting down the fabric in preparation for rocking the driveway, after they got done talking me up two dollars an hour on their pay and trying to convince me they’d started at 8 am when we didn’t even drive out there till after noon.
:fryingpan:

While they were working, Princess, one of her schoolfriends, and my writer friend’s daughter were at the swimming hole in the river…..

….rope-swinging….

….splashing….

….rafting….

….fishing….

….tadpole-hunting….

….and crawdad-catching.

But don’t worry, 14 and 16 got their chance when the work was done!

And you didn’t let your writer friend’s daughter just take Desdemona home with her :purr:
The pics are great - do your kids know how lucky they are to have a swimming hole like that - well, they will when they’re grown up

Ahhhhh, what a wonderful way to spend a lazy summer day. Swimming and playing in the cool water of your local watering spot. Great pics. We have a couple spots like that we like to go to, and they also make good camp spots, but you have to take the 4-wheeler to get to them otherwise you’d be walking half the day to get there. Glad you had a good visit with your friends Suzanne!!! :friday: Hope everyone has a great day today.

    WONDERFUL pictures, Suzanne!

Nothing I did this weekend (it’s still the “weekend” here, as we have a civic holiday) can compare with childhood fun like that. I didn’t have a swimming “hole” per se, but there was a spot in the river behind our house that you could cool off in.

    BTW, congrats, Maureen. :-))
