Hummingcat

Jun
12

She is so patient.

This is a cat who can break in windows and even doors if she wants in the house and no one lets her in. She’s one of the smartest cats I’ve ever seen. If Spice used her powers for good, she could probably cure cancer.

She sits beneath this tree for hours. Other times she perches here, in a cleft in the trunk.

Still.

Absolutely still.

And patient, despite the fact that it is mostly a frustrating waste of her time and her rocket scientist-level mind.

Unfortunately, sometimes she accomplishes her goal and nabs a bird. That she can nab hummingbirds in mid-flight is a miracle. Bigger miracle–we saved this one.

Spice had this hummingbird in her mouth briefly and we got it away from her before she bit into it. Hopefully, it was okay. We let it go and it flew away.

Spice? She went right back to the tree.

I know where you are coming from, I have two that like to hunt birds. Shadow likes to bring them into the house and set them free to fly around. Callie prefers to end the chase as soon as possible, so we have to be quick with her! :catmeow:

Ashes regularly brings us home “presents” and she can’t figure out why they make me so sad!

Clearly Spice has super powers. :purr: I’m glad you freed the hummingbird despite your cat’s awesome catch.

Aw love your kitty. I have a cat who can let himself into the house too! He’s crazy. And yes it makes me sad when they bring home “presents” too. :catmeow:

Wow and glad you saved it (maybe the feeder needs to be moved lol but she’s probably smart enough to just move with it). :cattail:

That is one talented cat! And a very lucky bird!

The Slanted Little House

"It was a cold wintry day when I brought my children to live in rural West Virginia. The farmhouse was one hundred years old, there was already snow on the ground, and the heat was sparse-—as was the insulation. The floors weren’t even, either. My then-twelve-year-old son walked in the door and said, “You’ve brought us to this slanted little house to die." Keep reading our story....

Old Farmer\'s Almanac

"Lamb-y, then whammy! Get some tickets to Miami! Snow is easing, but we're still freezing. It may be spring by the astronomer, but not by the thermometer. Mighty fine, then leonine."
