Shells from the Carolina coast.

My cousins had this huge party this weekend on the farm and I got the house all cleaned up and every speck of laundry done. It’s a tradition going on over 20 years and they always hold the party in the old farmhouse where we live. They also always bring in a hired lady to clean up after the party, so my house is even more sparkly after the party than before. I had every speck of laundry in the house done pre-party, too. So, I’m starting out the week with a clean clean clean house, and party leftovers in my fridge mean I don’t have to cook today, either. I’ve been having trouble with my phone line so I’ve got the phone people coming out here today, so I’m chained to the house, can’t be tempted to run any errands. Sounds like a great writing day to me!! Just me and my computer and people I get to make up so they always do what I want. Nothing could mar the perfection of this day!

Except the electricity going out, which happened first thing this morning. :hissyfit:

I’m on my laptop till the battery runs out…..

The farmhouse was one hundred years old, there was already snow on the ground, and the heat was sparse-—as was the insulation. The floors weren’t even, either. My then-twelve-year-old son walked in the door and said, “You’ve brought us to this slanted little house to die." Keep reading our story....

Old Farmer\'s Almanac

March 2010
"Lamb-y, then whammy! Get some tickets to Miami! Snow is easing, but we're still freezing. It may be spring by the astronomer, but not by the thermometer. Mighty fine, then leonine."
